    nsync problems

    Hi,

I m using using raid5 and firmware 1.00.10 on a n52000, and tried to set up nsync to a backup some folders on a local ftp server. I succeed to create nsync task and the test ftp connection succeed. When i launch manually a backup for the first time, it show 'In progress" and "success", but when i take a look of the data the n5200 have transfer and backup to the ftp server i see :

For example, here is the hierarchy of the directory i want to backup, on the n5200

    top_level_dir
    |__ subdir1
    |__ subdir2
    ...... |__ sub-subdir
    ...... |__ ..
    |__ subdir3
    |__ subfile

on the backup ftp server, here is the hierarchy
    ftp_user_home dir
    | __ subdir3
    ........ |__ subdir1
    ................. |__subbir2
    |__ subfile

This is strange ? all the hierarchy of the subdirectory of the parent dir i backup is lost and is not representing the dir hierarchy of the dir that should be backup

Anybody already see this behavior ?
    Thanks for your help

    Re: nsync problems

I have exact the same directory hierachy on my local ftp server as on the N5200 (non pro at the moment FW 2.00.01 - but worked the same way with FW 1.00.10).

    Re: nsync problems

I could try v2.00.01, but i have several questions.
Do i need to re-create the raid5 array to solve the problem about nfs handling and performance ?. I see on several thread, that users need to backup their date, upgrade firmware, delete and -re create raid5 array to make the filesystem more efficient. Is is true ?
I have already 500 GB data on the thecus, and do not want to waste a day or more to have this functionnality.

More over, does the 2.00.01 firmware compatible with module managment ?

    Thanks for your support.

    Re: nsync problems

    At least for my N5200:
Module Management is working on FW 2.00.01 and I've upgraded from 1.00.10 to 2.00.01 without any problems and without data loss (about 750GB data).
I have a daily backup of my N5200 and backuped it just before upgrading (to be sure not to loose any data).

    Re: nsync problems

    Dear Sir,

If we just need fix the NSYNC issuue, we just need update to V2.00.01 and re-setup the NSYNC task and fine.

About the module compatible issue, we just hear some user fee back on V2.00.03, but we didn't what the module doesn't work on V 2.00.03.

    Re: nsync problems

I follow your suggestion and upgraded to v 2.00.01 firmware, deleted all nsync task and re-setup the task. I launch one task manually, to check if i have the same problem about directories hierarchy, and it s still there, like described on my first message.
Is it possible that this behavior happens when task backup is launched manually and not via crontab system ?
If so, i ll wait for a daily automatic backup to check if it s doing the same behavior.

    Re: nsync problems

For me nsync to local ftp server works correct launched manually or via cron. May be You should delete or better move away Your old backups and let nsync start from scratch.
What comes now into my mind:
I have following structure on my ftp server:
    Users Home dir
    |
    +--nsync
    ....|
    ....+ identifier of N5200
    ........|
    ........+-- share 1
    ........+-- share 2
    ..............

@Yvon : the module management gives an "URL not defined" in FW 2.00.03 if someone tries to install a module (FW 2.00.01 works fine)

    Re: nsync problems

Another problem... restarting after 2.00.01 upgrade, the n5200 NFS service seems buggy. All the previous nfs filesystems exported can't be export on a client . Always permission denied.
On the n5200 via ssh, it seems that the generation of the /tmp/exports seems buggy
when i launch the nfs service manually :
    /img/bin/rc/nfs start
Starting NFS services: exportfs: /etc/exports:1: syntax error: bad option list
    [FAILED]

On the web interface, i have disable NFS service and deleted all the NFS folder i had, and re-enable NFS Service and created a nfs folder. But nothing happens, still got he same error.
In fact, it seems that there is still a buggy config line for a previous nfs folder i had set up that always (even after a reboot, and every nfs folders deleted)

Here is the exports file (raid0/sys/exports or /tmp/exports)

    "/raid0/data/space" 192.168.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash MyCompany,sync,anonuid=99,anongid=99)

When i take a look at the sqlite db :

    sqlite> select * from nfs where share!='nsync' and share!='snapshot' and share!='usbhdd' and share!='usbcopy';
    space|192.168.0.0/24|rw|no_root_squash
    Mycompany|192.168.0.0/24|rw|no_root_squash
    sqlite> select * from nfs;
    space|192.168.0.0/24|rw|no_root_squash
    MyCompany|192.168.0.0/24|rw|no_root_squash

Thinks it comes from the upgrade 1.00.10 to 2.00.01. the nfs script service that generate exports file seems buggy
How can i remove all the nfs configuration to restart in a new fresh one ?
    delete * from nfs

    Re: nsync problems

Seems it comes from the 2.00.01 firmware that do not allow to export more than 1 NFS share.

Thats a known bug in FW 2.00.01 - see this thread:
    http://thecususergroup.proboards106....ead=1189783135
it is fixed in the beta FW 2.00.03 - some users reports good results with this beta FW, however module management is not working in beta FW 2.00.03.

    Re: nsync problems

I finally discover this bug after upgrading to 2.00.01. I finally upgraded to FW 2.00.03 and nfs problem disappears... But the nsync problem is still there.
I reset all the nsync task and created 2 task again , and i still have the same behavior on the backup dir hierarchy.

    ftp_user_home dir
    | __ subdir3
    ........ |__ subdir1
    ................. |__subbir2
    |__ subfile

    Re: nsync problems

    hi

I have same problem. FW 2.00.01. When i set a new nsync task to windows (IIS) FTP server, the directory structure is incorrect. I started the nsync manually.

    Re: nsync problems

In my case, the FTP backup server is a vsftpd on a ubuntu server. and the directory structure is still incorrect even in FW 2.00.03 as well as in FW 2.00.01.

    Re: nsync problems

I still have the same problem with the nsync functionnality after upgrading to 2.00.04. I re created to nsync task but i still have problem in the directory hierarchy of the mains folders
i backup. All files/directories are not representative of the backup dir hierarchy and dir/files structure.
Any idea of the problem ? the ftp server is vsftpd under linux
    Thanks for your support.
