    Question 5200 pro rebuilding/recovering

    Hello team,

Today I discover a strange thing on my 5200 pro that I have from few weeks, I am changing all the five disk of the array made with 5x400giga barracuda with 5x500giga, the idea is to expand a little the total space.
Until today I have changed 3 disk, one at time, hotswapping with equipment powered on, any time all goes well and the lcd panel inform about a rebuilding state, today I change the forth disk with the power off, and when the nas was powered on, the rebuilding don't start automatically, I need to add the new disk as spare and than the system start the recover, but this time the lcd panel display "recovering" instead of "rebuilding" without indicate the percentage.

Someone explain to me the difference between rebuilding and recovering........ and why this happens?

    thanks
    Dommy

    Re: 5200 pro rebuilding/recovering

    Dear Sir,

N5200 system would detect the RAID status and than represent on the LCD, and the "recovering" instead of "rebuilding" it is depen on the system detected the RAID status, thus we could login inot web configuration page to verify the RAID status & percentage.

Alos if went 5*400GB to 5*500GB, after replace & rebuild the HDD 1 by 1, we need the RAID Expend to extend the RAID to 500GB*4=2000GB.

    Yvon.
