    In short words:
    a) the IP adress to access Your N5200 from the outside world is the public IP adress which is given You from YOur ISP
    b) You have to potrt forward the port 21 in Your access router from the WAN to Your internal IP of Your N5200
    c) depending on Your access router You will also have to port forward the ports needed for data transfer, or You are able to define the ftp service in Your router
    d) the username password for access is one of the users You define in the N5200
    e) be sure to disable anonymous login, or all the world is able to access Your N5200
    f) handle access rights with care for the users You allow access from outside
    g) hopefully YOPu have a build in firewall on Your router if You expose the N5200 to the world

Depends on the router, but it will usually be displayed in amongst either the status information or the WAN (Wide Area Network) section.

Most ISPs use dynamic IP addressing, so you will likely end up with a different IP address when your router re-connects at any point. You can often pay a little more for one or more static IPs from your ISP, this means you will always have the same external IP address.

There are ways round having a dynamic IP though.

May be You could share a little bit more information with us how your network setup is (the network architecture) and what type/manufacturer of router You are using.
It's hard to give support without any information.

Re: I would like to use my n5200 as a FTP Server?!

I'm also having problems with setting up the FTP server on my 5200PRO.

So far I have installed pureftp and ftp access and set them up as best as I know. The ftp server is enabled, i have forwarded the ports on my router 21 and a port range of 10 ports. (only 1 client connecting)
I have a static IP address so i'm not using a dynamic dns service.

I have set up a test folder and the ACS to go with it.
I have tried to access the ftp server using IE to no avail and tried using cute ftp putting in my username and password for the folder i set up but it also cannot connect!!

My router is a Netgear DG834PN so not too old and I forwarded ports before without a problem eg https ports for connecting to the web based interface of my 5200 without a problem.

Is there anything I am over looking??

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sorted it, ISP was blocking port scan to the FTP ports, disabled ISP firewall now it's working.
