Hi,
go to "onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200_Module_List"
download latest "perl" and then "slimserver"
Go to the "module mngt" on the 5200pro screen, install "perl.mod" and "slimserver.mod"
Regards Lars
Thanks Lars!
IPERF 2.00.00 IPERF network performance test Yes
PERL 2.00.01 Perl Programming Language Yes
SLIMSERVER 2.00.03 SlimServer Media Server Yes
SSHD 2.00.00 Enable SSHD Yes
SYSUSER 2.00.02 Add sys user Yes
This is what I am using... How do I connect to it? I tried IP:9000 in a browswer and it didn't like me... am just rebooting now :)
Doh its 9009 not 9000 :)
That's because Twonky uses port 9000 and you can't change it. On theother hand, SS can be changed.
btw, SC7 (now called SqueezeCenter in v7) is looking good. I've been running the beta for a while now.
I have tried USHARE and Slimserver with PERL installed and enabled with no luck. I am testing with CyberLink SoftDMA client. The client does not see media servers. I can't even figure out how to manage the folder set to be shared by the media server.
It cannot be that complicated?
What exactly are you trying to do? Slimserver only works with the SlimDevices (now a Logitec company) range of products. The latest of which is the SqueezeBox 3 and Transporter.
I haven't tried the latest builds of SC7 for the past few weeks (been away), but i think we are getting close to release, should only be a few weeks i think. I'm pretty sure Andreas we be on this when it does go final :)
Hi,
I've just purchased my N5200ProB and was wondering how to install perl and slimserver mods also, I have read the above messages but I don't seem to have the 'Module Mgmt' menu item on my System menu??
BTW I have no knowledge of Linux or servers in general, I just wanted to run the slimservices squeezebox from a dedicated server.
cheers,
David
There is a problem with the current, newest firmware and modules. I don't know what the problem is exactly, but it may well be that the menu options simply aren't there. A new firmware is due at the end of the month that is supposed to fix a lot of the current problems with the N5200.
So does that mean I can't set up my 5200 until I the new firmware is available??
To be honest i don't know for sure. Hopefully Yvon from Thecus can answer your questions.
If You have FW 2.00.03 on Your brand new N5200, then module management is not possible (thats a bug in the 2.00.03 Firmware, which is a beta version) - if You have FW 2.00.01 then it should be possible.
Module Management is only available if You have a working raid, cause all the databases and files are stored on the raid.

Thanks for clearing that up peter :)
I'll need to keep a closer eye on the FW developments now i actually have a N5200
