N5200 Diskspindown with Samsung HD501LJ

Hello!

I have a Thecus N5200 with Firmware 2.00.01 and 3 Samsung 500GB HD501LJ as Raid 5 installed.
In the disk menu I have activated a Idle Spindown after 30 minutes.

I think the HDD's don't spindown after 30 minutes because I hear always the sound of the HDD's

- Are the Samsung 500GB HD501LJ have problem with Idle Spindown function?
- If I like to change the HDD's wich 500GB HDD's support HDD Idle Spindown?
- Is planed to fix the HDD Idle Spindown problem with a new Firmware release?
- How I can see if the HDD is spindown?

Hi Thorstense,
a lot of users have problem with the Standby-Funktion, no matter which Hdd´s you will use!!

The support told me it´s a problem with Raid-Construction and Standby!!
It should be fixed in one of the next firmware ( this statement is more than
30 days old) and you get no further response from this bad support!!

I have tested it with Firmware 2.00.02 and 2.00.03beta but no success!!

An external disk connected to the eSATA port spins down without problems, the internal disks don't. Maybe some background process accesses the RAID in regular intervals?

Thanks for the answers

First I think only the Samsung HD501LJ HDD's don't spindown.
So I must not change the HDD's to an other brand.

Then I will wait for the next firmware release and hope the spindown will fixed.
