    Question N5200 2.00.01 FW issues (SMB/CIFS)

    To whom it may concern...

I've upgraded my N5200 to firmware version 2.00.01 yesterday.
The upgrade completed without error, but it left me with a couple of issues...

    1) although in the "Network >> Services" menu, the SMB/CIFS service is set to "enable", the system doesn't seem to be accepting the setting. The "Status >> System" menu keeps telling me that the SMB/CIFS service is "Stopped".
    Things I've tried so far:
    - Factory reset
    - Complete RAID rebuild
    - Firmware upgrade using USB Flash-disk (as per the instructions of Thecus Tech Support)

    2) The "AFP" service seems to be suffering from the same illness

    3) I'm unable to install any new modules using "Module Mgmt"

Biggest concern for me at this time is that I can't access any folder shares from my Windows machines.

Like I said, I have a ticket open with Thecus Tech Support on the first issue, currently awaiting an update.
Just thought I might check of anyone here has had similar issues (and solutions).

    Grtz,
    G

    Same thing here.

I tried beta Firmware 2.00.03 but it didn´t work too.
I sent a mail to thecus support including my config.bin file, but got no answer for over a week.
    Bad thing.

    Re: N5200 2.00.01 FW issues (SMB/CIFS)

I've sent over my conf.bin file too. They said it would take anywhere beween 2 - 4 days to analyse.

In the meantime, I've had a response from Tech Support, in which they provided me with a Patch file (thecusupgrade[1].samba_exception.1.0.0.rom).

The file's not even 1Kb big, but it did fix the issue for SMB/CIFS and Module Mgmt. The AFP service's still stuck on "Stopped"

I must say that Tech support's been very prompt in the handling of the ticket I openend. Reponse was almost immediate.
Maybe you should try opening a ticket at support.thecus.com, see if that gets you anywhere ...

    Grtz

    Got the patch, too.
Now my N5200 is working again.

Could someone please upload that patch to Main Page - Thecus Wiki or send me an email? Better send me an email with it...

    Thanks in advance!
    Hardware mods:
    # they void your warranty
    # they may seem to work, but kill your machine later on
    # they are mostly unneeded, because the engineers who built a machine knew what they were doing...

    Dear All,

The SMB/CIFS & MODULE come from 2 difference cause, this patch for SMB/CIFS issue only, and we didn't relase any patch for the module insatllation issue yet.
About the module installation issue we need via new veriosn firmware to update, if new version released we wll let users know in ASAP, thanks for your patience in advance.

    Re: N5200 2.00.01 FW issues (SMB/CIFS)

Any news when the next stable firmware (>= 2.00.03) will be released? I have a non-functional Thecus 5200 because NFS support is broken in FW 2.00.01.

I was told 'officially' by Thecus support that this particular issue and a stable firmware will be released at the start of November. I am still waiting.

    Exclamation Re: N5200 2.00.01 FW issues (SMB/CIFS)

Same problem here. I bought Thecus N5200 Pro ten days ago but I am unable to use its NFS server.

If you login as su and type the command
    showmount -e 192.168.1.100
then you will find out that the /etc/exports file that resides in your Thecus is probably empty (at least that is my case). This simply means that you are not allowed to access the machine as an NFS client, which "sucks" since file sharing is really important...

    Please fix the problem...
