    Angry N5200Pro & NFS

    Hi,

To anyone at thecus that can get this fixed or give an idea of when it can be fixed:

I previously had NFS working but having tried to create a second NFS share, I now get
"mount: raid:/raid0/data/Major failed, reason given by server: Permission denied"

have since deleted second NFS share but still have this problem, what can I do to fix this ?

Have read that there is a bug which corrupts (or erases contents of) /etc/exports,
    is this correct ?
(If this is a bug) Do these bugs get listed anywhere ?
Is this going to get fixed ?
What do you suggest to fix this as I currently have an expensive samba file server sat on my desk when I had planned to use it as an NFS server ?

Can you provide any new software to fix this ?

If not, I have the idea of copying everything off of my thecus using samba, then erasing the NFS share that is left, and then re creating it and copying the data back - Will this work ?
If not will I need to reinitialise all the drives ?

    Any other suggestions ?

I see other people are having this problem, is it in a Queue to be fixed - if so when is a fix likely to be released ?

    thanks,

    Chris

    Unhappy Re: N5200Pro & NFS

Should have said PARTIALLY working :-(

Having got all of my stuff onto the thecus, now find that am unable to modify openoffice documents, it opens them read only as it is not able to do NFS locking.

    Just googled and found :
    forums.hexus.net/thecus-care-hexus/119751-n5200-fedora-7-nfs.html#post1239066

So the NFS capable box that I bought still doesn't do the job as I cannot use modules with 2.00.03

Please Thecus, when will there be a version that works properly ?

Yvon - I see from a review that the thecus has a CF internally, could I remove this, mount it and manually update it so that it ran the statd service ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

    Yvon,

Tried rebooting did not fix problem.

I have sent the file as requested.

Please give an idea as to when this will be fixed, I am VERY disappointed with my thecus product.

Also, what about my suggestion of manually updating the compact flash boot device inside the thecus - Is this possible ?

    Regards,

    Chris

    Yvon,

    Any update ?
Will 2.00.04 fix this, is there a release note ?

Still no answer to the point about compact flash above.

    Regards,

    Chris

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

NFS runs fine with FW 2.00.04 - for backing up data I had exported about 6 folders and all were mounted on a linux box without problems.
Added : module management is also working with FW 2.00.04.

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

Have upgraded to version 2.00.04 and NFS locking still does NOT work.
Have had no info to suggest when this might be fixed from Thecus, except that 2.00.04 should fix most NFS problems (not locking it appears).

Would like to know if it is being looked into ...
Still no answer to the point about compact flash above...

Thinking that I should have just built another linux box and not bothered with the Thecus (assumed that I would be buying a professional piece of kit that actually worked)...

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

    Hello -
I am a new owner of the Thecus N5200. I have the problem with NFS mount where the returned error was "Permission denied"

    Many thanks.

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

    HI Rhumba,
Have you tried mounting from the command line, what are the permissions set to for your folder ?
What version of the firmware are you using (this is displayed in the top right in the web interface - mine shows : "N5200PRO V2.00.04") - there is a problem (for some firmware versions) where NFS doesn't work when multiple NFS mounts are defined?

Would be better to start a new thread as my problem is not that NFS doesn't work (anymore) but that NFS locking is not working.

If you post more details, perhaps someone from Thecus will help.

    Regards

    Chris

    Re: N5200Pro & NFS

Thecus seems to miss to start "statd" (/opt/nfs-utils/sbin/rpc.statd). Without statd locking will not work.

I started "statd" manually and locking finally succeeded - I will now investigate the startup scripts and if needed write a small module that starts "statd".

    Hello N5200 gurus -
Your post suggested that you can actually access the os to run some commands? Is there other method to access the server besides the web-based access?
