    Which Hard Disk?

I am looking in to purchasing a N5200B Pro unit to server as our companies off-site backup.

However before I go ahead and purchase one I have a few questions:

    1) Am I ok to use any type of backup software to back up to this device? I realise it comes with it's own NSync software, but as I understand it that is only for use between 2 similar devices?

(if you have some recommendations of software that would be great).

    2) I am after recommendations in terms of which hard drives to use with this? The device will be on permanently and running scheduled backups every evening so I want something that is going to last a good long time but also has fast access.

I have been looking at the following:

    Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3750640AS
Western Digital WD7500AAKS (not on the compatibility list)

Do any of you have any thoughts on these drives or can recommend anything better as I am trying to acheive 3TB (or as close as possible) of storage.

    3) do you know of any plans to bring out a rack mountable version of this unit?

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Re: Which Hard Disk?

    Dear Sir,

    1. Nsync support 2 Thecus device backup to each other, due to the Nsync base on FTP with VPN to encryption, thus we also back up via FTP even have only 1 Nsync device, If would backup from N5200 Nsync Task to an N2100, because N2100 with Nsync fucntion, thus we need doing following steps on N2100:

    A. New add a folder called "nsync" and public=no, and than assign an user account with authorization to wiriting in this folder.
    B. Enabled FTP server & UTF-8.
    C. Setup a Nsync Task on N5200, and keyin the user account/pass with authorization to wiriting in the folder, and check to "legacy FTP".

    2. Current we just test the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330, t hus we would recommand the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330.

    3. We would recommend the 1U4500 for rack mountable version.

    Yvon.
