    N3200 crash

    This does not sound good.

I have this dreadful issue with my new N3200 I installed this week. Using TimeMachine on Mac OS X 10.5.1 "Leopard" killed the unit after about 2GB copied. Lost connectivity, N3200 beeped continuously, LCD displayed "System Restarting" but it wasn't. After powering off the unit, it started, then the LCD displayed "(R)sync,Pls Wait ESC to con'u". If I pressed ESC, Raid started to rebuild. Did this 3 times in one day. Not a good introduction to Thecus products if you ask me.

    Re: N3200 crash

    Thanks Yvon,

I have logged a support request with Thecus. The support person asked ask me to configure the unit using only one disk in JBOD configuration. Normal copies using the Finder or a shell script with rsync, work OK using my 43GB Users folder as a test. Looks like the N3200 has problems with TimeMachine.app. Also, contrary to the Thecus manual, when connecting to a share via AFP, the share does not mount onto the desktop.

    Re: N3200 crash

I must make a correction. A a large Finder copy via SMB appears to work OK and reasonably quickly. A large Finder copy via AFP will crash the N3200.
