After waiting about 16hrs for initial raid build (RAID 5, 1024 stripe, 100% space) I tried to copy some files over via SMB, but it hung on the first file (625MB) and I had to restart the 5200, which led to it, what appeared to be rebuilding, the raid array.. though I could still browse the SMB shares. I decided to wait till the build/check had completed.. another 14 or so hours
I think the issue may have been related to a copy queuing program I was using called TeraCopy (Copy your files faster with TeraCopy), I have copied about 300GB to the device so far today without any lockups using Directory Opus' (GPSoftware Main Index) standard file copy..
oh.. wait.. after making a change to LAN settings and rebooting.. now I'm in degraded mode..
How does one go about fixing that?
This isn't the best user experience for a beginner with the product..
Here is screen grab of RAID screen since degraded status started.
and my for thecus support
and Logs
...I've since hot plugged the 1st drive and plugged it back in.. now it's doing a recovery build on the array.. oh joy to wait another 15hrs
