    Defragmentation

    Next question...
What to do about defragmentation? I have Diskeeper 10 that I use on my laptop, so do I use it on the BR Pro as well, or does it have a built in sort and defrag program?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: Defragmentation

The EXT2/EXT3 filesystems don't need defragmentation and there are no defragmentation programs available because of this.

    Re: Defragmentation

What is the ext2/ext3 filesystem? Is that the filesystem used by the N5200BR Pro? If so, that's just one more thing I don't have to do with this set-up...
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: Defragmentation

    Thats right.

It's actually something yu don't need to know. Thats one of the advantages of buying an appliance NAS as opposed to rolling your own.

    Not really.....

If you roll your own NAS, you'll most likely use a Linux based setup and the ext2/ext3 filesystems are default then.
