    N5200Pro Offsite DR Synchronization

I have 2 N5200Pro and would like to synch across a WAN link outside of regular business hours.

    There are 2 requirements.

    1. The data to be mirrored is on an iSCSI volume.
    2. This operation must complete or stop during this scheduling window. Throttling down bandwidth during business hours might be acceptable.

Nsync doesn't appear to work on iSCSI volumes.

This capability is available on many other iSCSI appliances on the market and the tools are already here to accomplish this.

I leaning toward a stacked iSCSI config with the Rsync module running as a cron job, however I am checking to see if anybody else is doing this without having to install any modules or find out if this can be done with a future firmware update.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    -Jeff

Have you had any luck with this?

NSync will do this, just use 'legacy mode' since all it is is FTP to a device.

The recving device must have a public address though.

No, that doesn't work. You can only FTP folder shares, not iSCSI targets.

    Re: N5200Pro Offsite DR Synchronization

Incidentally, is it possible to schedule NSync to stop at a definited time as well as start regardless of whether it's syncing from an iSCSI target or a normal folder?
We're currently having to nSync 60GB of data through a terrible BT ADSL connection that gives us a max of 0.25Mb up...which means that this can only take place between 1900 and 0700 each evening. At the moment, this relies on me stopping the nSync run manually every morning before anyone else gets into the office, but if there's a better way, I'd like to know!
