Hi all,
I hope someone can help. I have a Thecus N4100+ NAS with all my media on it (plus a bunch of other data), streaming to a Tvix M5100SH media player ("hardwired" using LANplugs to use my mains ring as CAT5). The NAS share is currently Samba because it didn't support NFS natively, however since I set it up you have upgraded the firmware.
Take a look at this ....
Thecus Download Center
At the bottom of the page is a link to NFS_1.0.02.
Three questions:
1. Is my data at any risk by upgrading the firmware on the NAS?
2. Would it be possible to change the share type from SMB to NFS afterwards directly or do I need to move all my 1.5Tb of data off the NAS onto other drives, recreate the shares then move it all back again? It'd be a Grade A pain in the ar$e but I'd rather do that than risk losing it all!!
3. Do you think the Tvix would chat directly to the NAS via NFS without the need for "Special program" NetShare running on my PC to stream the data? (have a look at the manual, ftp://ftp.dvico.com/Manual/TViX/TViX%20NetShare_eng.pdf)
Thanks in advance for your help
