usb / hdd size limitations n5200pro

    Hi,

I'm considering the purchase of a thecus n5200BR pro device. I have two noobish questions:

    1) There are 3 USB Type A and 1 USB Type B inputs/outputs. Can I use any of those to connect the thecus n5200 to a laptop through usb? Is the only way to interface with the device over lan?

    2) Can i put 1tb HDD's into the n5200BR Pro.

Thanks alot for your help, sorry if the question was answered elsewhere, but i looked and couldn't find it.

The Type B USB can be used to direct connect the N5200 to Your Laptop - the N5200 is then recognized as mass storage device. Configuration or other type of access is only possible via LAN.

Yes, but to be sure to have the correct HD check the HD compatibility list from the thecus Website or watch out for other users experience - not all HD's are working smoothly.

    thanks alot for the help

**Elsewhere i've been told that i can preconfigure a section of the hard drives within the n5200 to be accessible over USB. But the content available over usb is not available over lan, and vice versa.

    Why would thecus do that?

Don't know why, but that's the truth. When first formatig the Raid you have to decide the splitting percentage (ex. 90%USB - 10%network) or vice versa. The only way to change this setting is to reformat the disks and loose all data!
