    Quick question about harddrives

I have a N5200PRO with 2 Hitachi Deskstar 1TB drives which are presently approximately £160 each to buy, ebuyer are now selling Samsung Spinpoint 1TB drives for £100.

My question, is it better to populate my N5200 with all the same type and manufacturer of drives or does it not matter who manufactures the drives that I install and mix and match is OK. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    cheers, David.

    Re: Quick question about harddrives

Mixing harddrives will incur a small speed penalty, but consider how slow the N5200 is compared to the harddrives the effect should be unnoticable.

If you're really worrying, sell the Hitachi 1TB drives after you got the Samsungs and migrate the data over.

    Re: Quick question about harddrives

Well I'm not worrying about it, the Hitachi's are fine but a £50-60 saving is not to be sniffed at and I just wondered if there might be any compatability issues by mixing drives. Thanks for your input anyway.

What do you mean about the N5200 being slow compared to the hard drives BTW
