    FTP speed N299

    Hello,

When I use the FTP-server function of my N299 download speed is about 8KB/sec.
When I disable the N299 and enable my the FTP-server on my previous NAS (Conceptronic Grab'n'Go) I can get 70KB/sec download speed (downloading same file).
The upload speed of my DSL connection is 768KBit/sec, so 70KB/sec (while using internet etc.) is fine.

    What can be the problem?

Thanks in advance for your response.

    Greeting, Albert

    Re: FTP speed N299

    Hi Spiken,

FTP in my LAN results in 3.5MB/sec for the conceptronics and 5.6MB/sec for the N299.
However FTP through internet stil results in 44KB/sec for the conceptronics and 4.7KB/sec for the N299

    I use a Lancom 1611+ VPN-router behind a Davolink DV-2020 ADSL2+ modem on a 20MB internet connection.
The Davolink is configured to route all trafic to the Lancom by means of DMZ.

In the lancom i forward port 21 either to the IP of my conceptronics or to the IP of the N299.

Only thing i change to test the internet FTP is the IP-adres in the portforwarding settings.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: FTP speed N299

So, your n299 can transfert file over ftp up to 5.6 MB in lan and only 4.7KB per sec in wan, that s really strange.

During your n299 ftp transfert over internet, does your n299 cpu utilization is high ?

    Re: FTP speed N299

    Hi Spiken,

When i transfer over the internet CPU utilization is about 50% (18% while not transfering)
Over the LAN CPU utilization is 90-100%

I have tried connecting the LAN-port (192.168.1.250) of the N299 directly to my ADSL2+ modem (192.168.1.1) after setting routes in my ADSL modem.
I configured port 21, port 80 and port 443 to route to the IP of the N299. This won't work at all. No FTP, HTTP or HTTPS access.

    Other sugestions?

    Re: FTP speed N299

Did you ever get this fixed. I have exactly the same problem.

Local lan ftp transfer at about 5mb/sec. Over the internet to thecus ftp server i get about 9k/sec but to another ftp site on my machine at home i get 70k/sec.

Very frustrating as this is one of the main reasons i bought this device.

    Hi EvilMunky,

No, I never got this fixed. I'm disappointed about the device and have sold it.
I now own a Synology Diskstation 107. This works SUPER!!!

It costs more then a N299, but is word every euro.

Sorry that I can't help you any further.

    Greetings
