Could this be a way of promoting the higher end models by offering a comparatively higher number of features? I hope not.

Hi,
obviously it is. In the meantime I have asked for implementation of the spindown feature which had been advertised by my seller. The dealer asked Thecus and they told they had never planned to provide a spindow for the N299 which is reserved for the more expensive models. They also said the N299 would have to be developed from the ground for implementation of spindown because of memory limitations etc. What a bull**** and of course Thecus knows better.
We already have professional NAS running exceeding the abilties of any Thecus model (the N299 was only planned for use at my home office) and I am going to ensure that no Thecus product will ever come near to us or anyone I can speak to.
Bye
Peter
Hello,
i'm looking after the lastest Firmware has 1.00.30 or later.
All the links i found not works.
Some one can tell me where i can found it ?
Thx
Hello, where did you found this firmware ?
Daer Sir,
V1.00.30 BETA2 fix the WEB DISK path issue, if publish N299 on Internet via port forward 80 from NAT/ROUTE.
Yvon.
I have been holding on to my N299 since I bought it 2+ years ago, in the (vain, apparently) hope that a firmware fix would come along and fix drive spindown issue...
Almost 3 years later, and still no spindown? I will feel evil if I sell this on eBay, since it doesn't do what you'd expect a proper NAS to do - take care of your data.
Would Thecus consider making the firmware Opensource? At least for the older models?
