N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

Hi, my N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself. Under power management I have configured (in the left column) to power off at 02:00 to make sure it turns off at night should I forget to turn it off. The right columns has no action specified but all times are 00:00 and this is exactly the time it powers on ! I think this must be a bug. The firmware version is 2.00.04.

Can anyone confirm that this is a bug ?

I guess a possible workaround could be to duplicate the left column into the right column so it shuts down twice :-) at 02:00.

    Cheers,
    Siggy

    Dear Sir,

Does any device sending the WOL magic package to wake N5200? or please update V2.00.08 and reset factory default to verify this issue.

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Hi Yvon,

It's not the WOL, I could turn that feature off tomorrow to make 100% sure.
It's now 00:05 and the N5200 turned itself on again, at 00:00.
I can try the new firmware although looking through the release notes
I could not see anything being fixed in that regard.
    Will report back tomorrow.

    Cheers,
    Siggy

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Update:

With WOL disabled (plus to make 100% sure, unplugged the network cable), the NAS still powers itself on at 00:00.

In the next step I have duplicated the power-off time into the 2nd column and changed the operation from a blank field to power-off too. The NAS then did not power on at the specified time.

Next will be the newer F/W. Will I lose any folder settings when going back to factory defaults ?
I guess I will lose all settings, but files will stay intact ?

    Regards,
    Siggy

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Hi Yvon,
Upgraded to firmware version 2.00.08 and reset to factory settings. Then I re-applied the power management settings and the issue still exists. The NAS box powered itself on at 00:00 although not programmed to do so. The following are my settings (in lieu of a screen shot that are not easily possible in this forum):

    [x] Enable Schedule Power On/Off
    ____| Action ___ Time | Action ___ Time
    ----+-----------------+-----------------
    Sun | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Mon | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Tue | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Wed | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Thu | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Fri | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00
    Sat | Power OFF 02:00 | __________ 00:00

(The underscores above represent spaces, the forum S/W removes multiple spaces)

I think the problem is that the N5200's F/W thinks that if one timer setting on a day is power OFF then the other must be power ON. Looks like a bug to me.

    Regards,
    Siggy

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Hi Yvon,

I have the same problem with my N5200 PRO. Since I upgraded to fw 2.0.0.8, sometimes power on the TheCus itself, everything if it was power off with powermanagement.
With fw 2.0.0.4 I had no problems.

    Regards
    Michael

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Dear Sir,

N5200 hardward with power falure resume function, even a N5200 is power off status, but power line with a break and system would power up it self, thus would you please confirm the N5200 without such power line resume?
If this issue still happen, please provife the SYSTEM->CONFIG MGMT->DOWNLAOD->CONF.BIN for us analysis possible reason from http://esupport.thecus.com/support/index.php

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Hi Yvon,
Too bad, even after setting both columns to power OFF at 02:00,
the NAS just started at 00:00. I am at a loss and will have to turn this off for now.
Do you need that CONF.BIN file from me too ?
It should be easy for you to recreate I would assume.

    Siggy

    Hi Yvon,
Could you please say whether this bug is now recognised and whether it will be fixed in a future release ? I have the power management options now all turned off.

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

Although it is most probably not much help posting this,
I'd like to mention that after applying the latest firmware 2.00.10,
the erroneous power-on problem still exists, as expected looking at
    the release notes .

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Dear Sir,

Unfortunelly we didn't get this issue from lab, due to WOL & power up saving on MB & DOM, thus please contact with your reseller for testing/replacement hardware or possible netwrok environment as a final solution.

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

    Hi people,
My Thecus 5200Pro is running firmware 2.00.10 and was having the same issues about the auto power on, even with the auto power on setting disabled and wake on lan also disabled. With this latest firmware version and 2.00.08 it also was having issues that the device did not always shutdown by pressing (shortly) the power-button.

I was just leaving this issues for 'as is', but yesterday it auto powered on itself after a shutdown (button) 15 minutes before. I waited for it to start up fully and then shut is down again and took of the power cord.

This morning I wanted to start it again, power cord in and pressing the power button but no action at all.

I'm a little bit in panic about what to do. Thinking that it's a software bug (firmware), but now the hardware doesn't respond (on the software?).

    What should/can I do ?

Re: N5200B PRO erroneously powers on itself

The problem appears to be a faulty power-supply. Thecus supplier gave a new one and problem solved!

P.s.:How to provide the conf.bin if the unit doesn't power-up?
