n299 SMB/CIFS PROBLEMS HELP ME THECUS!!!!

my n299 had a bit of a fit and i couldn't access it via networked drive i went through all the settings and saw that smb/cifs was off.... so i try and enable it and when i click apply a blank page loads and when i go back to it it still says disabled... ARGH i can access my documents... plz help me thecus i have also tried downgrading the firmware and upgrading it to the beta stuff and it still doesn't work

Please try update to V1.00.30beta2 and than reset factory default to fix this issue:

My thecus is having more problems...

i can view the home page via the internet browser
i cant log in. and it says i need to set up raid
i cant see it on the thecus set up wizard
and i cant connect to it via networked drives...


looks like thecus has FAILED again...

remind me next time not to buy this ****ty brand with so many problems and poor customer support

If we can't log in and system says we need to set up raid, please provide a snapshot for us analysis.
If we can't discover N299 via Thecus Setup Wizard, please confirm it is via WAN port linking to PC.
Thecus Hexu forume for user to sharing experience and Thecus won't remove or edit user's post, if need the Thecus offical technical support please sumit a ticket from http://esupport.thecus.com/support/ and Thecus staffs would reply to you directly.

The thecus N299 is the biggest cra* i ever bought... it's a total rip off.... just another way to say the costomer, just buy everything else then thecus...
I don't care how the pricing is compare to the product... it's just sh*t... don^t buy it!!!

- ridicioulsly slow.... i mean, even itunes gets problem to play music sometimes....

- disks getting too hot... shure not good....

- it's fu**ing not to use, it's toooooooo slow.... many test on the internet approved it.. .also speed of 2100 is a joke...


i'am IT-Professional... i just wanted to buy thecus for home, only to listen to mp3s... and it's horrible to use.... i'am never gonna buy thecus products again... i'am gonna make a big walkaround...

@anymorrow: I think the same about this THECUS PRODUCT.

- SLOWER than SLOW on LAN (NFS, FTP, etc...)
- MediaServer not usable for PS3...
- No SpinDown for the HD's

It's better to spend a little bit more and get something usefull.

My N299 is powered OFF.

I'm trying to Raid and it completes successfully. Then go onto Updating firmware and it does this ok apparently.
After the firmware update it asks for a reboot which I do.

So it's all good up until this point....

Once I log back into it. It looks like it hasn't raided at all and asks me to raid again!! I've tried this on JBOD, RAID 0 + RAID1 with the same results. The firmware that I was trying was 1.00.24.

The HDD's I'm using are 7200.11 Seagates which are ok

I've reset this back to factory defaults. Reset it with the button at the back.

Can anyone help me?

This is what comes up when I first login. I'm sure that's not supposed to be right.

I've just tried updating with FW1.00.30 beta so I'm pretty sure there's not such thing as 1.00.34

After I've gone through the reboot I go back in and check... This is what I see.... No Raid at all. Gutted.

Dear Sir,

If the new RAID missing from firmware uploading/update or reboot, please install N299 HDD into PC and remove all HDD patrition from N299'HDD, and than we could doing a brand new installaiton,
If N299 still missing the RAID from partitions been removed, seem we need contact wiht your Thecus reseller/distributor for RMA service directly.
If the product information page showing all question marks, also please contact wiht your Thecus reseller/distributor for RMA service directly too.

hi.. i just bought the n299 and i have problem launching the setup wizard. It keeps informing me of an exception that could not be handled. I running it on windows vista home basic and have downloaded MS .net framework 1.1 SP1. Can someone help solve my problem?

Hi Yvon,

I've managed to debug the problem without upgrading. However, my printer is not compatible to the n299. My printer is Brother MFC 7340. Is there any plans for Thecus to make it compatible. I've requested help from Brother but to no avail.
