continuous problem n299 with ps3

my system is :
ps3 with static IP, enable upnp, with firmware upgrading
and
n299 firmware V1.00.37, wan static IP, upnp enable

if the ps3 connect to 299 media server, is always the error DLNA, I think because nas n299 does not have the software Twonky

You can edit the n299 with the twonky server?

Hello,
N299 is using uShare Media Server and is compitable with PS3. On the web interface, you will need to enable the MEDIA SERVER function and make sure folders are selected as shared folders. PS3 will then discover N299 and its folders.

and are enable network/media server and share album, video , itunes, lan interface only "wan"
nfs enable (only "wan")
ftp disable
itunes disable
target nsync disable
smb/cifs enable WORKGROUP only "wan"
upnp enable
wan (static , no jumbo frame) IP mode "disable"

in the "cartel Service" i not have settings none options for the "NFS settings"

in playstation 3
the message is ever "DLNA protocol error (501)"

I also tried with cross-cable n299 - play3

Please try the below:

1. Please make sure you have the latest firmware on your PS3.

2. Please download CyberLink_SoftDMA and check if you will be able to stream videos from NAS via your PC.

other people, like me, have problems with firmware .37, and It's also impossible to downgrade to latest working FW (!)

I think to waste time to contact Esupport and submit a ticket

In fact, it's a waste of time to submit a ticket to Esupport. I did, and configured DMZ to the N299 and let them troubleshoot on my NAS.

The respond was that Upnp works, haha, what a joke. Well, it sure identifies itself, but that's all, then nothing. The problem is that it's impossible to get an answer from Thecus staff what they checked, just that it works.

The least Thecus should do is to send all people that got this troubles a new Nas with a proper main board and a working fw!

I have no evidence left to my local shop that I bought it :-(

Hi All,

I too have the DLNA error on my PS3 with this NAS drive and agree with every owner of the N299 that it is NOT compatible with the PS3.


We should do a poll on here to see how many people have it working / not working...
