transfering hard drives from dead N2100 to a new thecus or qsap?

    Hello all,
need help, I firmly believe the system board for my N2100 has malfunctioned. I need to get my data of of the disks ( in Raid mirrored) or am thinking of getting a new thecus/ qnap TS-209. I need to know:
    a) If i was to buy another n2100, could I simply remove the 2disks, and install them into another N2100 and turn it on, will it work?

    b) could I do the same and put them into a QNAP TS-209, i.e remove them from the thecus and fit straight into the QNAP?

    c) how to get the data off - reformat both disks and install empty into a new Thecus/Qnap

I use both a imac and vista pc. But I am not very technical with computer software.

I would really appreciate some help/guidance

    Thankyou

    Jay

    Daer Sir,

    a) N2100 support disk roaming which means as long as the HDD/RIAD is health, and we could access the data form another N2100.
    b) Each brand with difference cofniguration, thus we afraid to verify this for you.
    c) If we doesn't need the data on the HDD, we jsut need to choose remove the RAID from the WEB interface, or remove the HDD from Windows PC either.

    Thankyou Yvon,
another question, if I wanted to get the data from the HDD's from a PC or Mac without putting them into another N2100, would it be possible. is thier any software that i could use that will allow me to copy the information to another PC. If not how could i get a new motherboard rather then buying a whole new unit?

    Thankyou

    Dear Sir,

The NAS even QNAP or Synology both base on Linux OS, thus if user without enough Linux knowledge about the opeation & RAID, we could install the NAS HDD into a Linux PC to access the data directly.
If this N2100 under warranty, the user could contact with Thecus reseller/distributor for RMA service directly.
