N5200 Power Supply
My N5200 stopped working yesterday and I am guessing it is the power supply. I took the power supply out and trying to find a replacement power supply. The original one is from the manufacturer Seventeam with the model number ST-200UAB-05E . It is a 1U server power supply with 200W and 20+4 pin motherboard power connectors. Does anybody know where to buy one in the USA? I am guessing a regular 1U power supply with the same connector set would also work, but when I looked at few, the dimensions were somewhat off ( the length of most power supplies is between 7.8-9", whereas the original power supply is 7.2"x3.9"x1.6"). Any suggestions?

you can find them on google :)
have you tested the psu by shorting the thin green wire to any of the black ones next to it ?

Re: N5200 Power Supply
I just tried to short it and since there were no sparks flying, I guess the PSU is toast.
I looked at aegis.com, is this the original Seventeam PSU? Is there any other brand that would fit and is somewhat more quiet than the original one?

Re: N5200 Power Supply
the problem is its a 40mmx20mm delta fan so they run bloody fast and loud, i modded a slower one into mine, you will see a few posts about the fans on the thecus user group where i told you to check my reply on here :)
aim for about 4-5000 rpm is its not going to be in a confined hot space.
mines a lot quieter now, to the extent i can sleep with it in the same room !
i swapped the psu and the case fans for slower ones with a decent air flow.
as the the power supply, your best to email the seller, or do a bit more searching. i think its a standard thecus one as scan in the uk also sell one.
being as though you tested it and you know its toast, pop the covers and check the fuse !

Re: N5200 Power Supply
I opened up my PSU but couldn't really identify the fuse. What should it look like :)

Re: N5200 Power Supply
if it has one, it will be near the mains in

Re: N5200 Power Supply
The only thing that looks like a fuse is a yellow cube with the description CARLI MPX40/100/21. When I googled it, it shows that it is a "condensator". Since I don't know what I am doing, I shouldn't play with it anymore :)

Re: N5200 Power Supply
I also looked at the fan you're describing, Papst F412/2 40x20mm. Do you know whether any company in the USA sells this fan? Few fans I looked running at 6000rpm are at least 21dB. So this Papst is apparently the quietest that I could find.

Re: N5200 Power Supply
there must be somewhere in the us, see what google throws up as it keeps giving me uk sites :)

Re: N5200 Power Supply
I had a smoking N5200, before replacing psu, just check main pcb for any burning or charring marks. You could test your psu with voltmeter if you havnt already?

Re: N5200 Power Supply
I didn't see any charring marks. When I turn on the PSU after disconnecting from the N5200, it doesn't even boot up the PSU's fan (as it was when it was still in the N5200). Tried to short the PSU the way GONZO described and no sparks :) I don't have a voltmeter, but I am really guessing it is the PSU.
