So Thecus, is there any possibility of getting a Twonky module - or better still, as an outright replacement for the mediabolic server?

Sure, it's in bold. Forget the case, the poor support, poor software was enough for me to SELL the unit. I sold it last night on Ebay and purchased a QNAP 509 PRO today.. Just stick and tired of Thecus problems.

Sorry to hear that. It does look as though Thecus have now cleared out their downloads folder and there's no beta folder anymore. Looks like a step in the wrong direction.

Alas, judging by the lack of support and extremely poor communication from Thecus, I too am thinking of getting rid of my box - My patience is wearing extremely thin.

It's a shame that Thecus probably won't even understand the comment above.

    Hi,
although supporting your query about the really poor support by Thecus I can't confirm vanishing of the beta folder. It is still there: http://www.thecus.com/Downloads/beta/

    Bye

    Bizarre!!!

Perhaps I checked while it was going some through some maintenance? Anyway, not to worry - I'm glad to see it's returned.

I have an N7700 and I installed the Twonky Media module from the 5200 and it works fine. So in my mind the Thecus already support TwonkyMedia. My only complaint is no support for subtitles with TwonkyMedia no.srt support.

May I ask You if You had to change something on the module or does it install from scratch. I'm interested in this cause I'm the maintainer of this module.

What kind of changes would we need to do in order to install the TwonkyMedia server in the N3200Pro?
Has anybody tried it already and made it work?
    Peter?

Sorry, but I have no access to a N3200Pro and also no detailled informations.
As there already existing some modules for the N3200pro, may be contacting the author is a good idea - unfortunatly he has not included the sources in his modules.

    Re: Vote for Twonky NOW!!

Well i might have made some breakthru, i actually was able to use your N5200 TwonkyMedia module, eventhough i had to manually copy it to the N3200Pro and start it manually, but all worked and now i am able to use the media server capabilites of Twonky.

I guess it would only mean that i would need to be able to compile the module in order to be able to make it installable on the Thecus Admin GUI.

My problem currently is that i have no Linux machine
I guess that's not so bad, i will download a distro and install it over a VM and use it to compile the changed module!

Well it looks good, so i guess maybe we will have a N3200Pro Twonky Media Server module soon

    Regards All,

    Luís

    Re: Vote for Twonky NOW!!

There is nothing special to compile - the included make file packs the content in an archive with the extention .mod - check the existing N3200pro modules after You have installed them (i.e the module for SSH access) what are the differences in the scripts or config files - and then run make to pack the files in the mod archive.
