its been quite a while since you last post....Have you noticetd any changes in read/write capability? Is the N7700 still up and running? What config? I'm waiting for mine to br delivered and I'm interested in upgrading the memory too
Hi,
I updated mine with 2 x 2GB kit. It's booting faster and Iscsi is faster as well. I noticed that the general reactivity is much better.
Lexos, what part number/ From what supplier, did you use?
Wow! I didn't realize that it had been almost six months since I posted my last message about my upgrade N7700.
I have two machines running at this time, each one was upgrade with 2 x Crucial's CT25664AA667. My two N7700 systems are running in a small business type environment where demand is not super heavy. The run very well and there's virtually no maintenance for the last six months. I will be buying two more N7700 next week.

Hi,
I installed Kingston ValueRAM, 2x2GB Kit, DDR2-667, CL5.

Hi,
After the installation of the 2x2 GB....I installed the info module.
Here is what I get: (with the last firmware 2.01.09)
Mem: 196652K used, 2917668K free, 0K shrd, 60388K buff, 57776K cached
so of course only around 3GB free...seems to be logic. As I said before, the thecus is really much faster, the response time is really changed, with iscsi for example.
the free memory should fill up as files are cached
So the new N7700 SAS has 2GB of RAM as well as a core 2 duo CPU. Is this thing running the same system board as the N7700?
I'm wondering what performance hit the AES 256 bit encryption makes, and how much the RAM + better CPU would relieve things.
2*2GB Corsair XMS2 800 5-5-5-18 dropped in fine, 3GB available now.
Yes indeed... I have verified that you MUST have 2.01.09 FW to see memory beyond 1GB. 2.01.08 will not see additional ram; thought I'd share.. now if onyl another FW update will allow seeing the last of the 4GB I installed. Only 3 GB are detected now on 2.01.09.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 32bit vs 64bit issue.
The N7700 is just a basic PC after all, so the same limitations apply. Without them moving to a 64bit platform, you won't get access to all the RAM. About 3.6GB will be the absolute max.
There may actually be a quirk in the system the N7700 is using that means a full 1GB is being used as reserved memory.
3GB may be the limit unless they moved to a 64bit OS
