    N4100pro Moving Files - Newbie

    Hello,

Just purchased a N4100pro for my music collection. Great NAS, but how do I quickly move files & folders within the NAS system? When I move files already on the NAS, they seem to be re-writing rather than moving only directory information. The process is slow when moving 100GB; I am missing something here? Is there a faster way?

I am currently runnning 3D in Raid 5.

    Regards,

    bman

Re: N4100pro Moving Files - Newbie

If You move files between top level folders, then all data are read to your PC/MAC/... and then the files are written to the other folder. If You move a file within a top level folder then it should be just moved.

But there are other possibilities - for that You need to install modules - see following link for available modules:
    http://www.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.ph...RO_Module_List

Version 1: do everything via linux commands (for that You need to install the SSHD and SYSUSER module
Version 2: do it via the php file manager (for that You need to install the PHPFILEMGR module)

Re: N4100pro Moving Files - Newbie

Hello all, I'm new here and to the world of NAS's. I think there will be more of us as more people do video and audio file storage and playback at home. I installed the PHPFILEMGR module- thanks Peter! I just cannot figure out how to use it! I have searched the web for instructions or a guide but all I find is how to write code. I am not a programmer so am I out of luck? Can someone point me to documentation that will explain how to use PHPFILEMGR? I have clicked on everything in the left pane but never see my folders on the N4100PRO.

    Thanks,
    John

You see in the right half of the screen the button with config ?
click on it and set "File Manager Root" to / - then save configuration - thats all.
