    Case sensitivity problem when rsyncing

    Hi,

I was expecting to be able to backup my data to an external usb drive with Rsync and then backing up every hour to have like an incremental.

Unfortunately the N5200 can only write on fat32 usb drive and fat32 doesn't handle case sensitivity as a result on every backup Rsync thinks that all the files/folders that contains Uppercase letter, has changed and try to add it up.

Does anyone of you already encountered that kind of issue or even better has a solution for that?

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

You may use another format of the external harddisc.

ext3: the harddisc is automounting fine for read/write , You need then ext3 drivers for Your windows system if You want to read it on a Windows based PC

NTFS: basically the N5200 mounts NTFS formatted discs read only, but with the help of the NTFS3G module you can remount the external harddisc for read/write manually via console commands

Thanks for your answer, that what I was suspecting. I don't really like playing with filesystem's drivers, especially that ideally I would have prefer to be able to read and write data form Mac OS later on.

I finally plugged the drives to my Mac and do the rsync from there through the network.
It's slow and ugly but at least with Rsync I shouldn't have to move to much data after the first run.
