Question Twonky on N7700 = Server Disconnect

    Hi,

Using latest Twonky on the N7700 to stream music in flac and mp3 to my Pioneer SC-LX71 receiver.
The music play fine for up to around 15 minutes then I get a message on the LX71 saying Server Disconnect. Backing one step in browser and selecting the same album or song again and it plays fine for another 15 minutes or so.

    Any ideas whats going on?

Playing the same music using my laptop with TVersity works fine for hours.

Do You have connected Your N7700 with dynamic IP (DHCP) or static IP an is the Twonkyserver binded to one Interface or to both interfaces?

I see no disconnections between the N7700 runnung twonkysrerver and my clients using static IP and binding the server to only ne interface.

Re: Twonky on N7700 = Server Disconnect

The N7700 is using dynamic IP, but the dsl router is set to give it same IP every time. Had trouble with fixed IP and finding it on the network.

Not sure what you mean by binded to interface, but if you mean its using both NIC's then yes.
The network status list 3 IPs:
    127.0.0.1
    10.0.0.10 (WAN)
    192.168.2.254 (LAN)

I have no idea how to unbind the LAN interface.

    Thank you

Re: Twonky on N7700 = Server Disconnect

Is Your N7700 connected via WAN or LAN to Your network or do You use both connections ?
Thecus Firmware hase some problems with dynamic IP's and keeping the connections, so if You can reserve the IP in Your router the try to use static IP as first solution.

To bind the Twonkymediaserver to a certain IP adress or interface You have to do following:
    - login to Your N7700 as admin
    - then type following on Your browsers adress bar:
http://<ip adress how You access it>:9000//rpc/set_option?ip=<the ip adress of the interface where Your clients are access it>
So if I assume correct and You are connected to Your network via WAN, the You ahve tp type following, after logging in as admin:
Be carefull if You bind the twonkymediserver to one ip adress - if You mistype the ip adress the werver won't start or You acn't access it any more and then some manual work ahs to be done via commandline to solve that. And that should only be used if You use a static IP.

Re: Twonky on N7700 = Server Disconnect

Thank you for the information Peter, unfortunately it didn't help much.
I was able to keep it playing for about 3 hours the other day, but so far today its stopped every 5-10 minutes in the middle of songs. I can simply do next song on remote and it will play that song as if nothing happened.

I have noticed slight disk trashing at the time the receiver stop playing.
It reminds me of the same problem I have with watching videos with VLC directly from a networked folder. The video freeze for a second while audio continue, and at the same time I head disks working for a bit. Solution was to increase the buffer in VLC for local content to over 1000ms.

Going to try stream the content of the NAS via TVersity on my laptop and see if that works.

Edit: Just some more info. The next track that I wrote about only works for a short time. If I wait to long I get the Server Disconnected message and have to stop and restart what I was playing.

I guess you're right about Twonky having issues.

As of this moment I have played continuously for...hmm...about 9 hours using TVersity on laptop.
Music is stored on the NAS so there is no problem getting the data.

Re: Twonky on N7700 = Server Disconnect

There seems to be a problem between the linux version of the server and some clients. It works fine in my environment, but other users have reported some issues - may be if You enlarge the buffer size (same procedure as for the interface binding, but of course other parameter) this helps.
