There can't be
It is a dual power supply item with a SAS backplane
That is Sata to SCSI backplane.
The 7700 currently has a std HS Sata backplane for the drives.
A SAS backplane has about the same thruput for single access but increases GREATLY with multi/simultaneous access,
Dual power supply ?
This doesn't seem to be the case, judging from the product's photos found @ thecus.com.
The caseseems to be identical to our old n7700 NAS device!
That is the case, why I was wondering wether there is an upgrade option to all rest n7700 users like me (considering that there are expansion slots of such kind)
So what you are saying is that SAS has nothing to offer (speed) over NAS, if the device is only accesed from a single PC? It just offer better speed if that is accessed simultaneously from multiple PCs ?
I also noted that n7700 SAS NAS, has a better cpu as well. Doesn't that offer any kind of increased performane at all?
Still, THECUS, any upgrade option ?
No, what I said was that the 'SAS' part only offers better thruput for multiple access.
I am sure the extra memory/CPU/etc will speed the unit up.
Dear tristratos,
The New N7700SAS supports new SAS(Serial Attached SCSI) hard drives and it has a faster CPU and RAM compared to N7700.
There are no upgrades for current N7700 users at the moment to support these new add-ons.

Dear IVAN,
Do you have any plans of realeasing any upgrade options for the n7700 NAS device in the near future or SAS version is the only way to go? (I am sure an upgrade option is something that me and others would really be interested of)
What is the speed difference that one would experience with the SAS over the old NAS device ?
Best Regards,
Tri Stratos
Dear tristratos,
Sorry for the late reply.
At the moment we do not have any upgrade plans for N7700.
Please visit our website http://www.thecus.com for latest
firmware and module updates
SAS hard drives have a rotational speed of 15000RPM compare to SATA drives which only has 7200RPM and N7700 uses Intel celeron M processor and N7700SAS uses Intel Dual core processor, users
can feel a great difference in speed under multiple client access.
