N0503 - Power Consumption + reviews
Are there any reviews/info available for the n0503 yet?
This was announced the same day I bought a QNAP TS-409 - which I'm trying to return or sell!
Thecus fits my need perfectly by the looks of it but I'd be interested in the power consumption. (diskless, or with 3 x 3.5" disks). I'd probably use WOL a lot but if standby/sleep operation is low enough, I would leave it on during the day.
Thanks

I will test mine as soon all the data (1,2TB) is on the NAS.
I baught mine with 3 Samsung F3 (1TB).
Re: N0503 - Power Consumption + reviews
I bought a Thecus n0503 with 3 Western Digital 1,5TB (WD15EADS) drives.
Here is the power consumptionof my NAS:
Off 3,4 W
Standby: 15,5 W (drives off after 30 minutes)
Sporadic access: typ. 25 W - 29 W
Full access: 36 W

Thanks for the replies.
Power consumption looks good.
One last question (for now!!) - does WOL wake from off, or just from standby ?
Thanks

Re: N0503 - Power Consumption + reviews
Hi,
I am considering to buy this NAS soon, but haven't found much information about it so far. I am glad I have found this thread!
Maybe somebody here already having the NAS could tell me what is the level of noise produced by the N0503?
And finally, how happy are you with your purchase? Thanks
Re: N0503 - Power Consumption + reviews
@Jowl
To wake up from standby it sufficient to access folders or data on the NAS. The access is just delayed until the harddisks run again. So far I did not need WOL up to now.
@stephkenzo
I would not consider puting the NAS into the living room. The fan is not temperature controlled (firmware 3.00.4) and runs allway with 1500 rpm. It is not really loud, but you can hear it clearly.
Re: N0503 - Power Consumption + reviews
@stephkenzo: I put a 7V adapter between the installed fan (92mm, 3pin) and now it runs at 800rpm
instead of 1500. But I already ordered one from bequite that should be much more silent.
Anyway it is easy to change and then to use rubber mounting instead the screws. But also
now it is also acceptable.
One thing that is strange, that if you unmount the back cover you see 2 USB and the eSATA
interface, but one of the USB is covered ???
