    N5200B Pro - RAID5 - Disk Failre/Replacement Unsuccessful

    Hi,

    Summary of Problem:
    1) N5200B Pro w/ 5x WD10EACS 1TB drives, RAID5 configuration, firmware was V2.01.10.04
    2) Disk 3 suffers hardware failure
    3) Raid status 'Degraded', disks used now show as 1,2,4,5
    4) Replace Disk 3 with WD10EADS 1TB drive (hot swap)
    5) Raid status still 'Degraded', disks used still 1,2,4,5
    6) System -> RAID -> RAID Config -> Expand, added disk 3 by marking it as spare
    7) NAS enters ongoing recovering/degraded loop (See "Loop Log" below)
    8) Upgraded firmware to latest beta (V2.01.10.12)
    9) Recovering/degraded loop persists.

    Loop Log (example section):

Here is a section of recent activity in my log showing the recovering/degraded loop. It appears to toggle between states every 4-5 seconds.

2009/08/19 08:40:19 N5200 : The system N5200 is recovering the RAID and rebuilding is in progress.
    2009/08/19 08:40:14 N5200 : The system N5200 change to degrade mode.
2009/08/19 08:40:09 N5200 : The system N5200 is recovering the RAID and rebuilding is in progress.
    2009/08/19 08:40:05 N5200 : The system N5200 change to degrade mode.
2009/08/19 08:40:01 N5200 : The system N5200 is recovering the RAID and rebuilding is in progress.
    2009/08/19 08:39:57 N5200 : The system N5200 change to degrade mode.
2009/08/19 08:39:52 N5200 : The system N5200 is recovering the RAID and rebuilding is in progress.

What steps are appropriate to take given these circumstances?

If it helps, I am including screenshots of RAID related sections from my web-based admin for the N5200. *Edit - I can't post URLs to this forum yet (anti-spam restriction), so, please modify these URLs (replace slash with / and dot with .)

Is more information required in order for some kind of support? If so, what is necessary?
