Re: Thecus® Announcing Full Support with Hitachi 2TB HDD

    Dear Ivan,

Don't you think that you have to answer what the community asks you all this time?
You are the only Thecus representative in this forum it seems, and everybody is STILL asking you for an answer (me/ patrickc63 and so many others through several threads in this forum)

    But still NO official answer!

You just announced Hitachi 2TB full support for thecus products including n7700 NAS that i happen to have.
You did exactly the same thing a while back for WD 2TB drive as well and after a while you just removed it from your compatibility list.

WHY this won't happen for the Hitatchi's as well?

WHY there isn't yet ANY official announcement, regarding the faith for WD 2TB drives that some users like me rushed buying, after THECUS's official call I might add ?

The questions still remain unanswered and so many people are STILL waiting for your official answer

    To make it short:

    1) WHAT IS THE CASE with WD 2TB drives?
    2) ARE they ever going to be compatible with n7700 NAS through an updated firmware or is just a lost case and they need to be replaced asap ?
    3) WHEN do you expect to have such an update ?
    4) ARE your compatibility listing RELIABLE at the time of the announcement?
The WD 2TB case, proved NOT! WHAT makes such a new announcement for Hitachi's drives reliable ?
    5) WHY ON EARTH do you announce such a compatibility with n7700 and Hitachi 2TB drives THROUGH A ___BETA___ FIRMWARE ? (http://www.thecus.com/download.php?type=h&pid=82) ???? What makes BETA reliable ? WHAT would you reply to your customers after maybe degraded or other issues that might happen (like they do to WD 2Tb drives)?? That was due to BETA ??? OUR DATA ARE WAY IMPORTANT !!! HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN YOUR SLOGAN ? (Protect your source, secure your data ???) WHY DO YOU TREAT ___YOUR___ CUSTOMERS THIS WAY ???

Excuse my caps, but I still wonder... Is this a joke or something ???

It's time for you THECUS after so many weeks to SPEAK UP to your users, don't you think ??
PLEASE don't take this an an insult post. I am just complaining for something that you NEED to answer !!

SO, WE ARE ALL _STILL_ WAITING FOR YOUR FEEDBACK, WITH OPEN EARS !

Re: Thecus® Announcing Full Support with Hitachi 2TB HDD

    Dear tristratos,

Our engineering team is currently working with both WD and Marvell to find the root of the problem. We are extra careful this time because also dont want to announce the solution too quickly and same issue occurs again. We will inform everyone when the solution has been found.

Regarding the new Hitach 2 TB drives, our engineering team has done all the necessary tests to make sure it is working 100% with the beta firmware before we made the announcement.

Re: Thecus® Announcing Full Support with Hitachi 2TB HDD

I have news about me Problem "Workaround the WD 2TB HDD degraded issue"
    Dear Sir,

Sorry to inform you about this information, so far we are still not fixing the WD 2TB issue.
(We have to remind you the WD2002FYPS didn’t be listed on Thecus HDD support list.)

Do you have the chance to move the WD 2TB to Seagate or Hitachi 1.5/2TB drives?
We recommend you moving to Seagate or Hitachi 2TB drive would be a better and efficient solution.
Here is the last HDD compatible list for reference,
    thecus.com/Downloads/HDD_List/N7700_N7700SAS_N8800_N8800SAS_SATA_HDD_list_2009-10-22.pdf

We also find the WD RE4 GP Product Change Notice about Firmware Revision Change at the following address,
    files.qnap.com/download/Forum/WD_New_Firmware_Release.pdf

    Best Regards,
    Thecus Support Team

Don't see the Hitachi 2TB on the N5200 PRO compatibility list, are there any issues with them for the N5200 pro?
