    Question GLIBC 2.4 and LIBSTDC++ 6 on N7700

    Seems like the current 2.xx series of firmwares do not have GLIBC 2.4 installed, but rather 2.3x. This results in many modern day applications to fail to start complaining about the version of GLIBC.

    Did someone else in the forum figure out how to update the GLIBC or upgrade the firmware to something more modern?

    If Thecus development team is reading the forum, can you please upgrade the GLIBC on your distro in the next firmware release?

    The typical use case involves downloading RAR files from the Internet and trying to unrar them using the Linux version of the command line. But unrar is linked against libstdc++ 6 and glibc 2.4 libraries and therefore cannot run on the N7700's firmware.

    Your is greatly appreciated.

    Try the version of unrar I've posted in this thread : http://www.thecusforum.eu/showthread...ighlight=unrar
    This should work on the N7700 (it work on the N4100pro and N5200)

    Works like a charm. Thanks so much for the tip.

    It would also be nice to know if Thecus will be upgrading their firmware components to GLIBC 2.4 or above LIBSTDC++ 6 or above? Having more up to date dynamic libraries make it easier to run other applications on the box

    Re: GLIBC 2.4 and LIBSTDC++ 6 on N7700

    Although I have been able to get the pre-compiled unrar to work on the N7700, it still leaves me in the cold in terms of being able to run other applications that have dependencies to GLIBC 2.4 and LIBSTDC++ 6.

    Is there any way to add these libraries to the baseline install? Is Thecus planning on upgrading these libraries in a future release? If not, can they please do that? :-)

    Cant you just put the newer libs in any location in libpath? Or at least a link to them?
