Module Cross-Compatibility
Hi, I just purchased and setup an N4100pro with FW 3.00.05
Added 3X 2TB WD Caviar Green in RAID5. (silence w/room to grow)
I have a Squeezebox Boom, and wanted to run SqueezeBox Server 7.4 (VERY NEW)
Squeezeserver 7.3.3 had problems with firmware bouncing with mysqueezebox.com
So on some searching I found that 7.4 had been ported to the N5200...
Though there are hardly any modules for the N4100pro, the N5200 and N5200pro modules claim to work on N4100pro.
WTF, I'll give it a try... And it WORKS!
So I did a little research and determined that modules for the following devices MAY be cross-compatible:
1U4500
N0503 ComboNAS
N4100PRO
N5200
N5200PRO
N5500
N7700
N7700SAS
N8800
N8800SAS
What makes this a revelation is the ONLY decent repository for 3rd party Thecus modules I could find is on onbeat.dk for the N5200 (non-pro):

Re: Module Cross-Compatibility
There may be modules that are not completely compatible, but as they are all x86 based systems, there is a high chance of modules for one working on another. Especially a module for an older system working on a newer one (N5200 module working on a N7700 for example).
Although they have different firmware versions, I suspect they are all built from the same basic code base, just with additions to allow for added or limited functionality.
Re: Module Cross-Compatibility
The n5200 modules
- sysuser
- sshd
- rsync
work fine on my n0503 ComboNAS!

@patmtp35
I am sorry, I can not help you with lmldonkey. I did not need it up to now.
@all
Meanwhile I installed the TwonkyMedia Server ver. 5.1 on my N0503. The server runs without any problems!
