N7700 NEW Firmware FW 3.00.06/FW 3.00.07/FW 3.00.07a

Hi,
well it looks like the new AJAX interface firmware is out but i'm rather concerned about moving to it since there appear to have been 3 releases of it in less than a month...

Can anyone comment on the stability/changes/upgrade process. I'm currently on 2.1.0.9 and using 5 x Hitachi Deskstar 1TB (Sata II 16mb cache) drives in RAID 5. I've no easy way to archive off this data (around 3.4TB) before attempting the upgrade and I'm aware Thecus offer no warranty or data recovery support. So I'm seeking confidence out there from anyone who may have already taken the leap... I suspect i may still wait anyways, given the number of 'releases' so far... but as I didn't see another thread about this I thought I'd start one!!!

So, please share your experiences about the 3.00.xx updates on the 7700/7700SAS/8800!

Hi Bob,

I had the same question and indeed, the only topic I found until now is yours.

So.... I am now in the process of copying off my critical data and after that I'll try the upgrade and see what happens. I will let you know of any progress.

B.t.w:

Currently 2.1.0.8, 7x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (3x CC1H and 4x SD1B firmware), no problems so far.

Hi... if your firmware isn't problematic don't upgrade. 3.00.06/07 killed my N8800. 3.00.07a firmware was produced by week when I sent linux kernel logs from my NAS - now my machine is online.

I'm running FW 3.00.07 on my N7700 now since 10 days without any problems.
(7 * Seagate ST31500341AS with FW CC1H in RAID5 with one spare)

Just upgraded to FW 3.00.7a - upgrade went fine, no problems so far

Just to be 100% sure - you can upgrade to 3.00 with data in place? There is no loss of config?

Usually Yes, but nothing is 100% safe

Everythign was fine for the upgrade for me.. but i lost complete use of WEBDISK, for myself or any clients.

locally i can access my file.

but from outside network, to get in using webdisk, is impossible now
it doesnt load.

just spins and spins on the login page

Thx, Peterfu ..I know updating firmware is never safe but sometimes when we are talking major upgrades it actually destroys old config on purpose .. I just wanted to be 100% sure that was not the case here

i don't actually use it so it's not a major issue for me, but it would be nice for it to be fixed.

i cant use my server for 2 months now with any of my clients from the outside of the network

just says

"web disk loading... please restart..." over and over again
