    Help - N0204 won't install

I have a brand new N0204 with a single 750gig WD Scorpio Blue drive. It is connected to my network via a D-Link DI-704UP router.

When I use the Setup Wizard it sees the N0204 OK in Device Discovery but when I select One Click Installation after about 5 seconds the message "FTP errorError:500 The given address is not yours" appears. When I click OK the mesage "upload udpr fail" appears and thats the end of it - can't get past that point.

Same thing occurs with manual installation.

Not sure if this means anything but the USB COPY light flashes green about once per second.

I am stumped and would appreciate any help.

    Re: Help - N0204 won't install

You could have an IP conflict. In other words, the N0204 is default IP 192.168.1.100. If you have another device on your network that currently has this IP address, you need to disconnect it and then connect the N0204 to your router so that there isn't a conflict. You may also need to go into your router and purge the device that was previously assigned the IP of 192.168.1.100.

Once you get this done you should be able to use the wizard, but if I were you i'd forget the wizard. Open your internet browser and navigate to 192.168.1.100 and enter th admin panel. The user name= admin password=admin.

Set up your device here. Make sure you assign your workgroup name and then you'll be able to see the NAS on your network and all browsable shares (folders) inside of it

    Re: Help - N0204 won't install

Thanks for the advice but still can't get it to work. If I point to either http or https ://192.168.1.100, browser says something to the effect that it sees it but can't communicate with it.

If I point to ftp ://192.168.1.100 I can see all the directories (bin, root etc). Also if I run ftp I can login as an anonymous user and browse the directory tree.

No luck at all bringing up the login dialogue.

Have also tried letting router assign an address with same results (can ftp but http and https don't work).

Manual is useless in assisting with this problem.

    Any further suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: Help - N0204 won't install - solved the problem

Well perhaps not solved but found a workaround.

I direct connected the N0204 to a laptop and the configuration via the Setup Wizard worked successfully.

I then connected it back through the router controlling my network and everything started working.

    Weird but wonderful.

    Re: Help - N0204 won't install

    Hey Yengr,

I am experiencing similar problems to what you've described. (See thread titled "Help - N0204 won't detect using Setup Wizard" - I can't post the URL here, apparently... Sorry)

The big difference for me is that the Setup Wizard won't discover my N0204 at all. I get an "Operation Timeout!" error.

You mention that you solved your problems by "direct connected the N0204 to a laptop" Could you please explain how you did this? CAT5 crossover cable direct connection between network ports? Something else? I need something else to try!

    Cheers,
    djjerra

    Re: Help - N0204 won't install

    Dear Yengr,

Please disable any firewall and anti-virus and try again.

Do you by any chance have two ethernet cards on your PC? if you do, you will have to disable one.

    Hi all,

Just thought I should close out my comments here. I eventually achieved success. Described in the separate thread:

Help - N0204 won't detect using Setup Wizard

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
