Thecus n5200 Pro and 2TB seagate drives

    Hi All.
Here is my 2TB segate story.
I ran out of space on my NAS with 5x 750GB hard drives, so it was time to upgrade my drives. After researching all the thecus forum web sites, it seemed no one has used the 2TB seagate drives and everyone is using the 1.5TB drives. I wasn't happy with this, but thought I would do what everyone else is doing.
So I turn up to the shop and they are out of stock of the 1.5TB. After waiting for 15 minutes to find this out, I wasn't leaving empty handed. So I bought 3x Seagate 2TB drives.

I pulled 1 of my 750GB hard drives out and inserted a 2TB. After some time, it starting rebuilding onto the 2TB. I cancelled the build as I wanted to start from scratch.
After backing everything up to 2 of the 2TB drives, then backing everything up from the 2x2tb to the 5x750GB hard drives, I created a new RAID 5 with the 3x2TB drives.
36 hours later, the RAID had been created.

So all is good from my perpective. Hopefully I don't find any other issues that come up.

    Everything is good.
I have copied 3TB of data onto the thecus with no problems.
The RAID has been running for 4 days now with no problems. No disk errors or anything.

Hopefully Thecus will put these drives on the supported list soon.

Looks like I will be placing a 4th 2TB in soon and expanding my array. Probably do this in a week or so. I'll post an update once I do this and expand the array.

Could you tell me what firmware version and the exact hard drive model your using?

    Thanks!

I upgraded to latest production firmware before I put the drives in. (actually not before I put the first drive in and it started to rebuild the array).
I deleted the array and created a new array.
    firmware version: 2.00.16

    Disks:
    Model:ST32000542AS
    Firmware: CC34

I probably will not extend my 3 disk raid to 4 disks until after christmas.

Re: Thecus n5200 Pro and 2TB seagate drives

    Got my first error today.
Hard Disk 5 on N5200 has an I/O error.

I am still in a 3 disk RAID 5 array.
I can't see any problems with Disk 5.
    Reallocated Sector Count : 0
    Current Pending Sector : 0

So I added this drive back as a hot spare and the raid is currently rebuilding.

I hope this not a sign of things to come.
