Can't access attached iSCSI storage win2k8-5200Pro
I have finally setup my 5200 Pro RAID and allocated 1% to data and 99% to iSCSI.
In Windows 2008 R2 64bit (also tried this in Windows 7 64bit with same results), I can use iSCSI Initiator to connect to the Thecus iSCSI - no problems so far. I then go into disk management in windows, and it sees the new disk as disk5 and prompts me for initialisation - when I try to initialise the new disk device, I get an error window: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
The same error appears in windows 7 also.
Does anyone else in here have Win7 or Win 2k8 server connected to iSCSI on the 5200b Pro? Wondering if it is a windows or Thecus issue. The 5200b Pro box has the latest (2.00.16) firmware. Anyone recommend a different iSCSI Initiator I could try for 64bit windows 2008?
Thanks, Paul
Resolved: Can't access attached iSCSI storage win2k8-5200Pro
Turned out to be a limitation of the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator, imposing a 2TB limit on the attached volume. I downloaded the free Starport iSCSI initiator, and it all works flawlessly with my >2TB iSCSI volume.
Thanks, Paul :)
