Thecus N4100 "access denied" when copying files

    Hi, everyone,

I need some help figuring out what's happened to my trusty N4100.

I've owned it for a while and everything has been running great until recently. Nothing changed - I stress that. Sometimes I just turn it off with the button rather than power down. However, I've always done that from time to time and never when the NAS is in use.

Recently, I started getting an "access denied" error when copying files TO the NAS (never FROM it!). It pops up right in the very beginning of the copy process, but it usually manages to create the file in question on the N4100. It doesn't happen all the time, but often. Also, the bizzare thing is - that file it creates, but never actually copies - I cannot delete it... I go "delete", it disappears, but I hit refresh and it's back there - reappears...? I've never seen anything like this. If I reboot the NAS, then I can delete it.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    Mike

Is it part of an AD?

It sounds like the permissions for the share are missing or corrupted.

    Hi there.

No, it's not part of an Active Directory, in fact, AD is disabled on the unit.
The permissions have not changed in a very long time, I also checked just now and they are fine...

What I found is that the NAS seems to be dropping the TCP connection whenever I try to copy smth over, but not when I'm just browsing...

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
