ATI HIS Radeon X1650 GT IceQ turbo edition (Memory clock not reading a lower MHZ)

ATI HIS Radeon X1650 GT IceQ turbo edition (Memory clock not reading a lower MHZ)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just got an AGP HIS Radeon X1650 GT IceQ Turbo edition card. On the box and on the specs on every web page for it, it says on the box the memory clock is at 1.36Ghz and roughly 1400 MHZ memory clock on the specs on web pages. When I access Catylist Control Center and look at my current overdrive settings, the Engine clock reads right at 540 MHz but the MEMORY CLOCK is only reading at 675MHZ! This is the current speed it says my card's MEMORY CLOCK is at (675MHZ) and if over clocked will only go up to 800MHZ. so the standard MHZ it is running at is 675 MHZ when it says it's supposed to run at 1400MHZ ! If anyone can explain to me why it would be much appreciated!! ty <(^_^)> i copied the specs right off the catylist menu on my card for further info :

The Effective Memory Clock Speed = 2 X Actual clock speed.

It's the same with more or less everything pc related. It's like your memory. Or mine at least. You look in your bios or CPU-z and it will say 800MHz ram is 400MHz. It's just doubled to make the effective clock speed of 800MHz. FSB is also doubled to get your effective clock speed. Need i go on.....

I know what your saying about us seeing the actual highest number. But as far as i can remember it's allways been this way. I wouldn't worry about it.

The memory that they use is GDDR3, or Graphical Double Data Rate 3. The memory is double data rate, like normal DDR/DDR2 system memory. The clock speed is 762MHz, but the effective speed, since it is double data rate, is 1584MHz. While it seems a bit off, 772MHz would yeild an effective speed of 1584MHz, it's close enough. The analogy would be, DDR800 memory is clocked at 400MHz. However, its effective speed is 800MHz. There is no problem with your speed's memory
