Screaming child needs help to build new machine to escape 50yo head

Hi everybody, name's Al, have managed to get the wife to agree to me building new gaming rig, I've presently got an Athlon 2000 & ti4200. Looking at £900 as absolute ceiling with KVM switch to switch between machines. She's looking favourably at a small widescreen telly so I'll get the TFT telly as a monitor later.
Any comments about SLI systems or components?
Thinking Akasa 62 case, Tagan 480, 64 3200, 6600GT with a view to buying another later when the price falls to use SLI.
I'm confused about motherboards, their VFM and their availability, I would also prefer to buy from one single supplier.
Current machine has 2 ZX Pro sound card & 7.1 speakers.
Any comments would be appreciated, I won't get this one past her again.
