Who does the best online Banking (website, ease of use etc) in your experience?

    Lo people

I've had the chance to use Natwest, Barclays and HSBC recently and frankly the Natwest site is faaar superior.

it's been reworked recently but it feels simple a make over in bolder colours.. this is good news as they didn't take anything away.

The barclays one by comparison feels really slow, and .. awkward

Anyone else got an opinion from using two or more regularly?

Barclays seems to want to throw everything at you at once.

Haven't been on Natwest for a while, it was very yesteryear I thought.

Lloyds seems to work fairly well.

Quick edit while I think about it, Nationwide is pretty good.

I bank with RBS and there site is rather good. Easy to navigate and simple to use, and and you can do lots of administration stuff as well to your account. As Natwest (iirc) use the same software, and both should be similar. The Android app is not to shabby either.

Re: Who does the best online Banking (website, ease of use etc) in your experience?

Lloyds pretty good as far as I'm concerned - pluses for me are ease of showing you your pending transactions and a landline authorisation procedure over text messaging (personal preference)

Santander fairly good navigation wise but slightly clunkier imo (too much cluttering up with jessica whatsit the athlete & some or other racing driver promoting you things), asking you twice if you want to log out and more drop-down boxes etc - again, you may want to be asked if you definitely want to log out & so on. Pluses, a pin number over memorable info, and a quick payment/transfer option.

does tha show in a seperate place or greyed out on the statement or what?

On Natwest the things I like are .. hovering over a transaction and the details showing without a click, the ease of viewing the accounts (I have several linked) together with a more or less info + &- on a relatively small screen area.

and the help functions are good too.

Re: Who does the best online Banking (website, ease of use etc) in your experience?

I use HSBC and have to say their online banking is fantastic.

Everything laid out logically, you can do anything and the security is top-notch, right down to using part of the recipients account number as the seed for the pin-code to send money.

TBH, I believe they have been pioneering online banking for years.

Halifax user here, top notch security, never had any problems. I've always heard FirstDirect are pretty good too.

Quicker than flying to Zurich to see your bank, too.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

As for best online banking, dunno, don't use it.

When you look at your account online it shows up the top, shows whats waiting to come off your balance, like something you have paid for on your card etc.

Sometimes I look at my balance and think, hmm I am sure its supposed to be higher, and a quick check on pending transactions will usually fill in the gaps Though it doesn't show everthing, ie automated petrol pumps, contactless transactions. Might be different for others though

Re: Who does the best online Banking (website, ease of use etc) in your experience?

I actually don't like HSBC's online banking. Its been a similar layout for the last 10 years and thankfully rarely have to use it.
It bugs me it will only let me see 2 months worth of statements at a time. So I have to take a screenshot and faff about just to get all of the information I want onto one screen. If it wasn't for the charge I'd go back to paper based statements.
I had to use the statement export feature for the first time recently which gave me the choice of CSV, quickbooks and quicken. It would be more useful in a readable format for the normal consumer like PDF or even a spreadsheet, something with columns, headers and legibility.

As far as I'm concerned they're 10 years behind the times.

Re: Who does the best online Banking (website, ease of use etc) in your experience?

I've always hated HSBC's online banking. It gets the job done but that's about it.

Their little security fob breaks all the time and you can't do anything without it. They were REALLY slow getting a decent mobile app out (on android at least) - They had 'fast balance' for ages which does what it says on the tin... check your balance but the full app only came out last year? and that annoys the heck out of me by being pretty basic and doesn't like closing without backing out of the thing loads of times while hitting confirmations.
