    £200ish new monitor?

    hey all,

Im thinking of upgrading my 19" LG 1914wt screen soon, but im kinda stuck on what's the best thing to go for.

My main requirements are that the colour reproduction needs to be as good as possible as the main bulk of its use will be on digital art.

I'll also be using my Xbox 360 on it so if possible hdmi, composite or VGA needed.

Apart from using it on the 360 i still will be using it for PC gaming too.

I will of course be wanting to go as big as possible, I would like a 24" as that seems to be the best kind of jump from a 19", and seems to be a nice size that isn't too big at all

And of course needs to be a non TN panel.

Hardware wise i have a 8800GTS 320mb and i'm not really looking to bother upgrading it this year at all so that will have to and should cope

I'm looking to spend around the £200 mark so trying to fit all that in is the main problem, also would there be any benefit of waiting a month or two for anything?

Sooooo what's the monitors that i should be looking at, i have heard of the Yaraku model, but i understand there is no hdmi? And i do know this would add a substantial amount to the cost...

    thanks in advance

The one that sticks out in my mind would be this
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...Glossy%20Black

It was £207 last week which is a bit of a shame though.

    Re: £200ish new monitor?

the yuraku from aria or misco imo would be better than the ocuk version. its cheaper and hdcp ready so you in these two respects its got an upper hand. both only have dvi and vga inputs though. these two are the only non tn panels that i know of for around 200ish, which does mean why they have been so popular

Novatech are also now selling a (1920 x 1200) 24" VA panel screen for just £215

Dunno if it's the Yuraku, but it's a bargain at that price - whatever model it is
What's more... they have 110 of 'em "in stock"

    Re: £200ish new monitor?

cheers guys, the misco one was the one i was looking at, the only thing that is slightly bugging me is that 1920x1200 is not supported by the 360 via vga, 1920x1024 is though, would that make a huge difference?

If i were to up the buget slightly, is there anything worth going for that includes hdmi at as close to £200 as possible?

can't comment on the xbox and how it will turn out on the monitor. for best results a monitor with 1:1 pixel mapping will display any resolution. but that normally only comes on pricer models.

think you'll be in a bit of a dilemma here. you've asked for a non-tn panel, problem is the 22" range is almost all tn panels. Think there is one monitor that has a pva panel. But non tn panels at 24" and above normally cost alot more than 200 quid.... the way i see it right now is you'll either have to change the specs of the monitor (size, panel type etc), accept the shortcomings of the yuraku or up the budget.

good price and features, but it's a tn panel..... if the OP doesn mind getting tn panel, then the benq would be a pretty good option

I got a pair of these http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=628496 at work recently. Mega cheap & the performance is fine for graphics & gaming.

    Re: £200ish new monitor?

Ooo thats really interesting Oid, 2 screens will be useful for doing the work, i was just going to be doing my 19" on the side, but 2x 22" is interesting, didnt really think about it.

I pretty much definitely need a PVA panel though as the colours will be crucial to me, so ill probably be going for the yuraku

    cheers
