Need to run 4K Monitor and Two 1600 x 1200 monitors - What gfx card below £200

TL;DR - I need a graphics card that can handle 1 x 4k monitor and 2 x 1600 x 1200 monitors at the same time and do the odd bit of gaming but not cost more than £200... I am willing to consider secondhand.

I am a software dev and I just bought a barebones Precision T5500 and am filling it out at the moment with a couple of xeon's I have lying about... it was only £140. :-)

I have also bought 2 x Dell 2007FP monitors (1600 x 1200) and intend to get the P2415Q (4k) from Dell also but I am not sure what graphics card to get.

I will play the odd game so I am not bothered about SLI 980 GTX or anything, just something that will work and give me the ability to play something on occasion: I can drop it to 1080p for gaming if need be.

I did buy a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 on the cheap from Amazon but I am sending it back as the fans sit at 100% all the freaking time so I suspect it's broken.

So I thought I would take the opportunity to ask the question as I have only just decided to get a 4k monitor now and need to be sure that a graphics card can handle 4K + 2 x 1200p as, according to AMD, their cards can handle 4k no problem but when you add in two more monitors at 1200p it doesn't mention anything.

    Thanks

    Mick

    I just found this: asus.com/uk/Graphics_Cards/R9280DC2T3GD5/

    Would it do the job?

I am currently using a GTX 760 for 4K plus 2*1080p, gaming on just the 4K - and that works fine. I would be very surprised if that card you've linked to wouldn't work. The main problem people tend to have is with the cabling, as you need to use Displayport normally to successfully run more than 2 monitors.

Thanks Jim. The 2007FPs use DVI and when I get the 4k it will likely use DP so it should be fine as long as the card has 2 x DVI.

My issue was with the total number of pixels - The manufacturer seems to specify that it can run 4K and some mention that it can run (n) monitors but nothing about the total number of pixels it can push.

I was just a bit confused.

I have gone with an ASUS R9 280 DirectCU Top this time - should be perfect for my needs.
