    Braid.

    Its out. (Wednesday)

    Its good.

It can be finished in a couple of hours max.

    No replay value.

    Its 1200pts.

More lack of value from Microsoft. I'll file that one with the insane price of that Penny Arcade game, the 700pt add-on packs we've been seeing, and crap like Double D Dodgeball being 800pt games.

    A tenner!

    £10.20p

Which sounds not so bad... but for an hour or so of gameplay? You'd think a bit of '1200pts for a game you can finish in less time than it takes to watch a movie is a bit of a piss take', but no.

And 1942: Joint Strike was crap.

    Sux0rish.

Yeah, supposed to be good as well. Plays good, looks good.

None of that changes anything though - an hour or two of gameplay is not a tenners worth. Value for money is king.

Seems that the dev's wanted to charge only 800 points, MS made it 1200. Greedy bunch of gits springs to mind. MS are trying their best with killing the service with lots of crap at inflated prices.

    Re: Braid.

Well thats not good. Puzzle Quest was 1200pts but that was justified. It had a ton of content, days worth of play, and it was a proper full retail game.

Braid, as far as I can tell, is a short experience, an 800pt game that MS have just decided to price at 1200. I'll still get it, but anyone who doesn't want to make a 400pt contribution to Microsoft, for no reason other than MS seeing if they can screw a bit more out of you, will be having none of it.

XBLA is getting a bit expensive and crap lately.

I enjoyed the demo but didn't think it was worth 1200pts (In fact I thought 800pts was a bit steep). I think MS is testing the water see if they can get away with charging more for the games they release.

it's an attempt to avoid the "space giraffe situation", where a small indie game came out at a low price, and didn't actually recoup its costs as a result

    Re: Braid.

True, but there is one key difference - Space Giraffe was a crap game, that everyone who played the demo thought was crap, and every review said was crap. *

Braid is a great game, that everyone who plays the demo is going to think is great, and every review is saying is great. **

That would have been enough, along with an 800pt price point to avoid a dead giraffe, me thinks.

    Re: Braid.

For myself space giraffe is a great game but then again I don't like Braid. Just played the Braid demo, like the presentation but the game didn't do it for me. 1200 points is a little steep for an xbla title... Hope Raiden IV doesn't hit that price when it finally arrives...

What we share with everyone is glum, and dark

    Re: Braid.

Cattle Crashers is going to be 1600-1800pts I think.

Looks like we will have to get used to games costing a tenner or more.

    Re: Braid.

Can't see me buying many at 1200pts+. 800pts is close to impulse buying level - seeing as I've bought a high percentage of the demos I've downloaded over time. I wanted Puzzle Quest, but the extra 400pts keeps putting me off.

    I think it's psychological >1000 = whoa!

I didn't like the demo of Space Giraffe either.

    Re: Braid.

Puzzle Quest is the best game on XBLA, a full retail gaming costing much more on other systems, and well worth the 1200pts though. If you are going to pay over 800pts for a game, thats the one thats worth it.

There is a 700pt expansion though, so thats 1900pts for the full experience.
