how to cut through metal on the antec 900

found this while searching i think i need something like a dremel i use a grinder on a drill and an angle grinder ATM lol

Lay it flat on a flat piece of wood and use a hole saw? I think using a cutting disc in a dremel you`d be hard pushed to get a round hole. If the holes are smallish just use a drill. Pilot then bigger, even a normal drill can drill a big(ish) hole through sheet, using "Blacksmith" bits.

ye i thought that too, but im at uni, so i dont really have that much access to a drill.
just thought it may be easier to buy a dremel-like instrument instead.

the holes dont have to be perectly round or anything, just big enough to get some sata cables and power cables through.

is what your cutting going to be bare metal or painted? if its bare you could always break out the wet&dry to smooth and round off the edge. of course the tubing will help if the hole ends up "less then perfect

lol no im not qualified yet,
just meant 2nd year in training! would use the drills if i could take them home, but dont think the university would trust us

As a dentist you will appreciate the right tool for the job, Make a bodge up with a mini tool dremmel etc or get the right tool, a hole punch is another option.

Seriously you can do it with the dremmel, its going to be much harder work but for the one off hole you will get by.

i may not be going for round holes tho,

Dremels are the way forward. You can get a decent one on Axminster or their own brand which is cheaper.

Fair enough a dremmel tool is usefull for lots of things as well.

I'v got a small pair of hand held sheet metal nibblers which are great for the thinner metal inside PC cases mine are worn now I'v cut out fan holes and used them on rusty cars as well. I don't know where to get them now.

Small hand files are great for finnishing of edges as well.
