Spoke to my man who works in mobile and he said it is exactly as Infinite says - the carriers are the major influences when it comes to updates, they want their bloatware etc. installed. He said that is the main reason why Nexus devices are usually sold SIM free as the carriers are not interested in vanilla Android at all. Moving to the Apple side and he said they just fall over themselves to get them as they make such a profit compared to other makers...

What is the better tablet to go for out of the Google Nexus, Kindle Fire HD or a generic Android tablet?

Nexus - vanilla Android, fastest updates, very good price for performance with decent build quality

Found the article I was referring to:

    http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/16/3...zation-verizon

Going forward, we’re going to try to be as close to the base as we can be, because we think that’s the right thing for users. We think users also want fast upgrades and upgrades for their phones over the long haul, so we’re going to be focus on that as well. It’s a little bit different than what a lot of OEMs are doing and certainly what Motorola did in the past, but going forward that’s going to be our strategy.
    Basically Verizon's bitch...

Shame, I wasnt phased by this as I knew it was a bargain but then it struck me yesterday that I could sell my O2x to Cex for £100/£87 and then just pay a pittance for essentially a 5 month contract Upgrade , then as soon as my contract runs out ill grab a virgin or giffgaff sim only, would work out something like £18 p/m for me then... bargain as I cant see phones getting much better.

This O2x is excellent apart from the lack of RAM, showing its age now .

Come on get back in stock I want to order one before I sell my phone!.

HmHmm it looks like the Nexus 10 is *in stock* again, you can order one and it takes 2-3 weeks for shipping. It doesn't say 'in stock' but I guess they're taking orders anyways?? Heck I don't mind waiting 2-3 weeks, that's just in time for Xmas!

Get em while they're hot ladies and gents, they might only take a limited amount of orders or something..just a headsup for Hexus folk
