    The z3 compact was selling well under RRP fairly quickly so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

    I don't have 20/20 vision but I'll agree with you - the QHD screen on my LG G3 definitely looks better (Netflix benchmark) than a normal HD screen. I'm also kind of amused that some of the people that slagged off the G3's "unnecessary" QHD screen are now going into paroxysms of delight over Sony's 4K. I'm now coming to think that perhaps it's the 5.4-5.6" screens that benefit most from QHD and in that vein perhaps 4K makes more sense on something like a Galaxy Note. And I remember that it was Apple who started all this screen resolution tackle waving, with "Retina".

    Don't think I'll be buying a Z5 Premium - that price is a bit on the ohmygod to be justifiable - especially as I think I missed the bit about this Z5 camera having OIS?

    Yet the Z3 compact has 4K recording while the Z5 does not. I wonder what else they've removed...

    OK prices are 20% less than originally mooted.

    That brings the Z5 Compact back to the same launch price as the Z3 Compact.

    While I am fairly sure its NOT why they added a 4k screen, there is some traction happening in the "use your phone as a 3d headset" arena. There a 4k screen will make a difference.
    Main PC: Asus Rampage IV Extreme / 3960X@4.5GHz / Antec H1200 Pro / 32GB DDR3-1866 Quad Channel / Sapphire Fury X / Areca 1680 / 850W EVGA SuperNOVA Gold 2 / Corsair 600T / 2x Dell 3007 / 4 x 250GB SSD + 2 x 80GB SSD / 4 x 1TB HDD (RAID 10) / Windows 10 Pro, Yosemite & Ubuntu
    HTPC: AsRock Z77 Pro 4 / 3770K@4.2GHz / 24GB / GTX 1080 / SST-LC20 / Antec TP-550 / Hisense 65k5510 4K TV / HTC Vive / 2 x 240GB SSD + 12TB HDD Space / Race Seat / Logitech G29 / Win 10 Pro
    HTPC2: Asus AM1I-A / 5150 / 4GB / Corsair Force 3 240GB / Silverstone SST-ML05B + ST30SF / Samsung UE60H6200 TV / Windows 10 Pro
    Spare/Loaner: Gigabyte EX58-UD5 / i950 / 12GB / HD7870 / Corsair 300R / Silverpower 700W modular
    NAS 1: HP N40L / 12GB ECC RAM / 2 x 3TB Arrays || NAS 2: Dell PowerEdge T110 II / 24GB ECC RAM / 2 x 3TB Hybrid arrays || Network:Buffalo WZR-1166DHP w/DD-WRT + HP ProCurve 1800-24G
    Laptop: Dell Precision 5510 Printer: HP CP1515n || Phone: Huawei P30 || Other: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Pro 10.1 CM14 / Playstation 4 + G29 + 2TB Hybrid drive

    Re: Sony outs the Xperia Z5 Premium, the world's first 4K smartphone

    I'm slightly bemused by all the the Sony hating going on in here, I had a Z3 from launch and it's easily been the best smart phone I've ever owned. Totally trounces the S6 except on the camera front & I prefer it to my G4. Yes I'm slightly concerned by the combination of an SD810 & a QHD screen on the premium and the impact on battery life this may have but lets see what the reviews say before condeming it to the scrap pile. If my Z3 wasn't so good I would be 1st in line trying to get my hands on one of these.
