    Best of Steam Summer Sale

I'm a little surprised to not already see a thread like this (unless I missed it, then feel free to delete this one) so I thought it could be good to make a list of the best deals that we find on Steam or games to keep an eye on.

So far I've held back and only bought two things, a two pack of Don't Starve for me and my partner, and Just Cause 2 for less than a fiver.

What have you bought so for? What are you most looking forward to?

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

There is a thread in Current Bargains with sale stuff, could use this one for peoples recommendations and what they have bought though

For me so far bought Defiance with it apparently playing like Borderlands. May even start watching the TV show on Syfy as it goes hand in hand with that.

Noticed Dark Souls is there for a fiver on the flash sales, thing is though I have it on PS3 already and got through it after around 90 hours, then they went and released the DLC which I don't have on PS3. Its a funny one as I want it but at the same time I don't, just buying it to go through it all again to play the extra content, not sure if I could tolerate it again, there are quite a few cheap hits on Dark Souls in comparison to Demons Souls and it can be infuriating at times but I do love the game.

EDIT : My wife says I am masochistic enough to go through it again and to get it, so be it!!!!

I wouldn't bother with the show - it is derivative, mediocre, sci-fi at best.

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

So now I am preparing to die again, and again, and again...............and so forth, will look into accessing the DLC as I know you have to do certain things before you can enter the area.

I suppose I am prepared this time around knowing what build I am going to use, only 2 bits will give me grief I guess, the Capra Demon on the way to The Depths with it being such a small area and Ornstein & Smough.

May give the Defiance TV a watch when its next on just to see what its like but if it is low grade Science Fiction will likely give it a miss.

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

You see, a lot of initial reviews said that about Defiance since they were based on the pilot which was a bit meh. However, I and a couple of mates decided to watch the entire series to see how it panned out and it is actually not that bad.

I remember B5 having a crap pilot and the first half of the first season was not that great, but it picked up towards the end. I am not saying Defiance is going to be another B5,but its hard to judge any series after watching a few episodes.

    Edit!!

The game and TV series are linked with each other and can affect characters and events:

But as Ferral says, could always use this one for discussion

Splash points out that Bastion is on offer at the moment - if missed then it'll probably come up again. It's a fantastic sort of hack & slash, but with a lot more soul than most.

Great narration too. Bit like Afro Samurai. This is another game I need to finish!

I only saw the first 6 or 7 episodes, so it may well improve. However, if a show can't capture me in six episodes, I'm not going to waste any more time on it.

This is so true. I got as part of a Humble Bundle and downloaded it - and it sat in my download folder for months. I only listened to it quite recently - It's great.

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

Played Defiance for the past hour and its right up my street, plays like Gears of War crossed with Borderlands, using my controller to play and both driving and PvE works lovely with it. Only thing that is missing is a cover mechanic, I do like to be able to lock into cover likje on Gears and Uncharted when playing 3rd person shooters.

I can honestly say well worth getting considering there is no monthly sub

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

I thought the same about Defiance Ferral, until I finished the main story (which was actually very good) and all the other side stuff, there just isn't much else to do. The co-op missions are pretty good but repetitive and PvP is a joke (it's all bunny hoppers, stealth/shotgun users and infectors). The game plays very well though in my opinion, just could've been so much better.

I like the look of that Dark Souls, I think I'll wait to see if it appears on a daily or flash sale.
