I don't think budget is the issue, ps the farscape budget of $1.5 million per episode isn't actually very high for a scifi series, it's actually on the lower end for a scifi tv show.
That said there's really no such thing as a "per episode" budget it's done per season in chunks because setup cost is far higher than running cost (you don't rebuild sets and costumes for every episode you just make them once)
The odd thing about defiance is that the budget is fairly high but it does quite look it (Game of Thrones had $45milion for the first series, defiance had $40milion for the first series)
Another interesting thing is that the game had a budget of $70milion
Farscape was nearly 14 years ago though and it was not a US show(Australian),so in that sense the budget was quite high for a non-US series.

Regarding Defiance must be shooting somewhere expensive or very hard to get to,as the SFX definitely does not look great for such a budget. Considering the short run of episodes, the per episode cost is as high or higher than BSG or any of the Stargate series,on average.

Well, I managed to get The Witcher 2, eventually. I'll try for The Witcher later, when I've built up the stamina to click "continue" on Steam for 45 minutes solid, again.
I can't actually install the Witcher 2 anyway - Steam keeps falling on it's arse, claiming I don't have enough space on my half full 1TB storage drive.

I don't normally bother with this kind of thing, but what am I supposed to do with a Football Manager trading card? I have no interest in collecting trading cards.

You can sell the trading cards in Steam Marketplace, usually go for around 25p average which gets added to you account as funds, just go into your inventory and from there you can list it

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

Sadly the Steam summer sale doesn't have much to offer me at the moment as I already have 226 games in my library and I mostly aim for co-operative games, but of the games currently on sale I could strongly reccomend:

Borderlands 2: Brilliant game, I've had 400 hours into this over several characters. My only real gripe is I bought the season pass at full price last year and it doesn't include every DLC so I feel a little ripped off, but don't let that put you off, grab yourself a bargain!
Portal 2. It is a relatively short game with about a day's worth of solo play and another day's worth of co-operative play, but it is worth every penny and if you can get it for less, great!
Resident Evil 6: Not quite the same as older Resident Evil games but it has entertained me for 60 hours or so nonetheless.

Thanks for that - I'll flog it. ...or them as it turns out. The Witcher 2 gave me another three.

Consider yourself lucky, I've bought every piece full price on xbox as it's my partner's favourite game. She even made me pick up a second loot chest!
I would recommend Borderlands to anyone.

I know nothing about that other than hearing the name before, I'm going to watch the trailers and see if I can make my mind up in 20 minutes before the Flash sale ends. I'm guessing that you would recommend it?

Yeah I'd recommend it, it's a side scrolling puzzle platformer with physics based puzzles and beautiful graphics. Great coop game. Try the demo if your not sure

Re: Best of Steam Summer Sale

I picked up Deadlight yesterday, also a side scrolling puzzle platformer and this sounds similar but with a fantasy theme and Coop.

The demo is downloading, now my only problem is do I get just the one copy, or get the 3 pack and give a copy to my gf. Hmm.. I see it says play as one of three heroes, is it the type with all 3 being player controlled ans switching between or just one at a time?

You switch between each character in single player but its multiplayer where I think 3 of you can all play

The reviews seem good, I like how it looks and the style of play and it adds another PC coop game that I can gift to my partner. Thanks for the suggestion

Mine has more hours on Borderlands than me and she only usually scores a little less than me if we play any FPS, she doesn't quite fit in to typical girlfriend categories when it comes to games

Organ Trail Director's Cut for 99p is brilliant. I got it as a part of a Humble Bundle and it would have been worth paying full price for, that may only be £4 but it's still worth it
