Re: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition

    One thing I don't get.

The 5000+ Brisbane core is the same 65nm Chip. Comes with a retail HSF ..and is £15 cheaper.

I was expecting the black edition to be cheaper.. what makes it so good?

    Unlocked multiplier
So u can overclock simply by changing this value in BIOS of those boards supporting it, then fine tune if needed between grades with FSB. Doing it that way means less messing with RAM dividers and HTT settings.

Got mine today thanks to that Scan service. Currently in as we speak and working nicely at 3 Ghz will let it settle for a few days then try and push some more.

Re: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition

    yes its very good temps
my e2140@3ghz @1.35v (got it up from 2.8ghz now after swapping it from ds3 to xfx!) reads 54c each core (PCW2007) @100% prolonged orthos testing. But even tho it says 54c, the back of the mobo and base of HSF are barely warm to the touch. More heat comes from the NB chipset but still isnt what I would term hot as you can hold the back of the fingers on it indefinitely without discomfort.

Excellent stuff, when I order mine I'll be pushing for the lofty 3.5GHz regions... I've modded my board to allow up to 1.75volts - can anyone smell burning!
    The situation's looking...
